Product Description The highly anticipated follow-up to the 2,000,000 copy bestselling inspirational book, The Power of Now
With his bestselling spiritual guide The Power of Now, Eckhart Tolle inspired millions of readers to discover the freedom and joy of a life lived in the now. In A New Earth, Tolle expands on these powerful ideas to show how transcending our ego-based state of consciousness is not only essential to personal happiness, but also the key to ending conflict and suffering throughout the world. Tolle describes how our attachment to the ego creates the dysfunction that leads to anger, jealousy, and unhappiness, and shows readers how to awaken to a new state of consciousness and follow the path to a truly fulfilling existence. The Power of Now was a question-and-answer handbook. A New Earth has been written as a traditional narrative, offering anecdotes and philosophies in a way that is accessible to all. Illuminating, enlightening, and uplifting, A New Earth is a profoundly spiritual manifesto for a better way of lifeand for building a better world.

A New Earth May 11, 2008 While a lot of people have found Eckharts book to be wonderful, I personally have found it very hard to read. Yes, there are many great insightful moments throughout the book and I agree with a lot being said but, I still found myself having a hard time getting through certain chapters.
I love this book!!! May 11, 2008 I love this book but one problem: I can't seem to keep my copies!! I tell people how great this book is and then they want to borrow it and never give it back. I've bought 5 copies already. I need to buy another copy because I just gave my last copy away again. Oh well. It has helped me, and now it's helping others. I highly recommend this book to anyone who wants to change their life. It has great practical information and you can see visible results as you "awaken to your life's purpose." FIVE STARS!!!!

A New Earth by Eckart Tolle May 11, 2008 This book is a must read for people who are ready to change their lives fo the better.
Life changing if you are open to its power. May 10, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Some have tried to define this as a new religion but Christians, Moslems, Jews and others have nothing to fear. This is a book of techniques and philosophies that can be used to strengthen whatever beliefs or faith you hold. It begins a new dialogue.
Read it quickly, then return to it. May 10, 2008 This book has served as a succinct reminder and synthesis of what I have gleaned over the years from psychology, philosophy, studies of world religions, observation, and the intensity of just living. So what if, as some other reviewers have complained, some of the material repeats what's been said before? Not everyone reads the same books, and if this one reaches those who have not been exposed to such ideas before, it serves us all well.
I was especially struck by the idea that flowering was a transformational leap for the plant kingdom and that humankind, too, is reaching the point of its own metaphorical flowering: in consciousness.
Although Tolle uses different metaphors (like the concept of the pain-body), he describes conditions that will be familiar to psychotherapists and clergy alike that have plagued and possessed the human spirit for millennia. There are some good old fashioned cognitive-behavioral therapy techniques in here, too (although they are not called that), and these will be helpful to many people who are suffering.
Without getting into a heady analysis of the book, let me say that I think it's important to read it quickly and without distress if some of the discussion seems either too simplistic or too dense. I have the Kindle edition, so I just highlight those passages that strike me in some way (or makes me glaze over) and spiral back into them later. I see the work of deflating the ego/false self to be much like a walking/living form of meditation: When the thoughts of the false self arise, notice them without attachment, then gently return to the pulse (the mantra, if you will) of the present moment.
Within this book, Tolle simply and beautifully re-presents the teachings of Jesus, Buddha, and other enlightened souls who understood what Tolle refers to as "the human Being." I hope those my-way-or-the-highway "God-fearing" reviewers who are raging about this book being of the devil have at least read it once, cover to cover, before dismissing it so. If they are so unconscious that they really cannot read the book, at least let them sit quietly with the actual teachings of Jesus--not the hateful, closed-minded, and intolerant spewings of some imposter-pastor who claims he loves Jesus and speaks for God--until they come to that place of peaceful presence where their little lights truly can shine.
