Amazon.com Review Setting: Warren, Michigan, present day Sensuality: 8 Jaine Bright and three close friends share dinner one night and during casual conversation, create a list of qualifications for the perfect man--some logical, some hilariously funny, some racy. Within days, their tongue-in-cheek wish list of attributes for Mr. Perfect has been leaked to the press and the resultant publicity is overwhelming. Coworkers, TV crews, and reporters barrage the quartet with comments and criticism. As if Jaine doesn't have enough to cope with, she has a new neighbor who she suspects is a criminal. She's relieved to learn that her neighbor is really an undercover cop, but she's still wary--because smart, sexy Sam Donovan handles her sharp witticisms with easy humor, and Jaine suspects that he may threaten her heart. What Jaine doesn't know is that she's about to need Sam desperately for something other than romance because her circle of friends is in big trouble. Unfortunately, that list of qualifications for Mr. Perfect has touched off a madman's rage. All of their lives are threatened and some of them are going to die, maybe all of them, if Sam can't stop the unknown killer. Mr. Perfect brings to readers the quintessential Linda Howard hero, whose straightforward, "me Tarzan, you Jane" attitude plays well with a smart, witty heroine. The rapid-fire dialogue between the two is downright hilarious at times, even when the two are about to steam up the windows and burn up the sheets. It's difficult to balance this kind of humor and sensuality with edgy suspense, but Howard manages it with aplomb. If you enjoyed Heart of Fire and Dream Man, you're going to love this latest novel. It's drop-dead wonderful.--Lois Faye Dyer
Product Description
What would make the perfect man? That's the delicious topic heating up the proceedings at a certain table of professional women at their favorite restaurant, Ernie's, tonight: Mr. Perfect. What qualities would he have? Would he be tall, dark, and handsome? Caring and warmhearted -- or will just muscular do? Jaine Bright and her three girlfriends start off with the basics -- he'd be faithful and reliable, the responsible type, with a great sense of humor. But as the conversation picks up momentum, so do the quartet's requirements for Mr. Perfect -- and they write down a tongue-in-cheek checklist that's both funny and racy. The next thing they know, the List, as it has come to be called, spreads like wildfire throughout their company and sizzles along e-mail lines. And it doesn't stop there: the List becomes an overnight sensation, grabbing the interest of local newspapers and television coverage. No one expected this avalanche of attention for something that began as a joke among friends. And the joke turns deadly serious when one of the four women is murdered... The prime suspect in the case is the victim's boyfriend, who was one of a number of men who found the List sexist and offensive. But an impenetrable alibi gets him off the hook. Now, with the help of Jaine's neighbor, an unpredictable police detective, the puzzle must be solved -- and time is running out as a deadly stalker targets the three remaining friends. Now, knowing whom to trust and whom to love is a matter of survival -- as the dream of Mr. Perfect becomes a chilling nightmare. Putting her "trademark darkly sensual style" (Booklist) into high gear, New York Times bestselling author Linda Howard creates a tour de force of passion and suspense in this electrifying new page-turner, and proves that appearances can be deceiving -- and deadly.

BEST Linda Howard Book EVER August 3, 2010 Heather Mason (Vermont, USA) Four women get together to create a list of qualities in their Perfect Man. Drama and hilarity ensues as a killer sees the list as a taunt to his perfection. Detective Sam Donovan lives next door to one of the "list ladies", Janie Bright. Janie is one of the most fun, brilliant characters I've read about in forever. She has a sarcastic sense of humor and a killer wit. Sam Donovan is an alpha male with all the right moves.
Read this book. You will NOT be disappointed! I have read everything Ms. Howard has ever written, and this is heads and shoulders above the rest. The only other books that this could compare with is her Mackenzie series. Honestly, Sam reminds me a bit of Zane Mackenzie.
My Favorite Linda Howard May 24, 2010 J. Hook (Baton Rouge, LA) There are many of her books I absolutely love, but this one made me howl with laughter. The characters are great and it's rather a creepy story. I've read it several times since it's original release. I just wish Linda could get back to this type of writing. It's been very hard to top this one for me.
Love Linda Howard - but not Mr. Perfect! May 5, 2010 Florida Gal I just recently discovered Linda Howard. Mr. Perfect is my 8th novel by her. I absolutely adored After the Night, Shades of Twilight and Dream Man. Coming in next was Kill and Tell and All the Queen's Men. Then there was Now You see Her and Cry No More. I gave them all 5 stars - even though After the Night, Shades of Twilight and Dream Man should have gotten 10 stars! However, I just finished Mr. Perfect and am sorry to say, I did not enjoy this one that much. Maybe it was because Jaine was a little too caustic and maybe just a little too funny for me. It could be my problem. I don't know, but this one, I will not recommend. Not that I didn't love the "Sam" character, I did. I will be shortly moving on to her next novel - because 1 out of 8 isn't bad and so far, other than Mr. Perfect - I adore Linda Howard!
Love this book!! January 6, 2010 Kristy L. Kirkland 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This book had a little of everything I look for in a book; mystery, suspense and hot steamy romance. I felt the author did a good job of balancing all of these elements. We have Jaine the sarcastic funny girl next door who along with her friends write a list of what they called "mr.Perfect." The list then becomes a big deal even making it on the news causing someone to start killing off the girls who made the list.
This is one of my favorite Linda Howard books. Jaine's character is so funny and relatable and who wouldn't love to have a hot cop neighbor like Sam. I really enjoyed the dynamics between the two, especially how they hated each other at first. The whole book was great. The suspense kept you on your toes and the characters kept you laughing. this is why Linda Howard is one of my favorit authors.
Mr. Perfect October 22, 2009 Vickie Dubroc (Louisiana, USU) Linda Howard is such a wonderful writer and this book is a masterpiece. It is on my best book list right along with Cry no More. I love the friends introduced into this story because we girls all have good friends. Linda Howard wright's sex better then anyone and I live her for that.
