Product Description
Mackenzie Allen Philips' youngest daughter, Missy, has been abducted during a family vacation and evidence that she may have been brutally murdered is found in an abandoned shack deep in the Oregon wilderness. Four years later in the midst of his Great Sadness, Mack receives a suspicious note, apparently from God, inviting him back to that shack for a weekend. Against his better judgment he arrives at the shack on a wintry afternoon and walks back into his darkest nightmare. What he finds there will change Mack's world forever. In a world where religion seems to grow increasingly irrelevant "The Shack" wrestles with the timeless question, "Where is God in a world so filled with unspeakable pain?" The answers Mack gets will astound you and perhaps transform you as much as it did him. You'll want everyone you know to read this book!

5 out of 5 stars Beautiful picture of God's love   May 9, 2008
As I read this book I was continually in awe of the visual pictures of God's love that I believed from scripture to be true. So many of Max's questions are ones that we all have or will struggle with. Young did a beautiful job of helping me see God's patience and love for us when we are in the midst of the struggle and questions. In my own life with events of tragedy, I can say that God is faithful and present, waiting for us to trust him with any ounce of faith we may have. I haven't been touched by a book in this way in a long time. After reading it I bought 5 more to borrow to friends. I so desperately want my teenage children and others to see God as he is depicted in the book. I highly recommend this book to all.

5 out of 5 stars Wow! What a Book!   May 9, 2008
I couldn't put this book down and haven't picked up another since. Very thought provoking non-fiction. Would recommend highly!

5 out of 5 stars The Shack   May 9, 2008
Reading this book only confirmed in my heart God's ultimate plan is for the best for mankind. I lost a son and I thank God for the years I had him. His love, his laughter, and his antics made my life richer and some people have not been that lucky. I also know that I will see my son again. Great book that will relate to all folks.

5 out of 5 stars Excellent!   May 9, 2008
I don't know if there are words to describe the tone of this book. It is an excellent read and very fast paced. It's a thriller, drama and comedy all rolled into one. Without giving away the plot, anyone who has suffered tradgedy in their life (and most of us have) will find something to connect to. This isn't just a story, it's a life lesson with many little nuggets to enjoy along the way. Mack is your teacher and as his student, you will learn to see life in a whole new way.

5 out of 5 stars The Shack   May 9, 2008
A friend had recommended this book as a "must read", and I am glad I took her advice.

I definately did enjoy reading this book and feel that it is possibly God inspired. What a refreshing and interesting concept to explain that we humans cannot ever put God in a box. The explanation of the Trinity was awesome. More inportant than religion, a man made concept, is a relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ. Makes you think. Everyone should take the time to read it. I will probably re-read it.
