Product Description Go green with BIM with this timely and up-close look at two of the fastest growing movements in the architecture, engineering and construction industry: sustainable design and building information modeling. Expert authors and professional architects Eddy Krygiel and Bradley Nies have created the ideal reference for AEC professionals wishing to incorporate green practices into their projects. This book begins with an overview of sustainable design and BIM, discussing how the design and construction industry has arrived at a crossroads and why we need to look to new approaches and methodologies to solve the problems we've inherited over the course of time. Because implementing these methodologies can be drastic changes in your firm's culture and approach to design and delivery, the authors put forth best practices regarding workflow, integrating project teams, and an order of operations approach to sustainable design. You'll also learn core concepts and gain a deeper understanding of keys to sustainability in building design, touching on building envelope, systems, materiality, and orientation. Whether you've had experience with sustainable design and BIM or are still a little green, this book will help you advance your practice and move you forward to a more sustainable future.

A clear BIM tool! August 25, 2008 I'm still enjoying to read some of the good advice in this book. Especially helpful is chapter 4 - dealing with the higher organizational values of sustainability.

Best book integrating BIM and Sustainability May 4, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
The best book for anyone wants to integrate BIM and Sustainability in their work practice, mainly designers. Good for both students and professionals. a step by step procedure to achieve Green Design using BIM technology, with real life examples, procedures, calculations, etc... The main program discussed is Autodesks's Revit, wish they used more than one application.
Excellent guide, with real life examples and experiences May 2, 2008 2 out of 4 found this review helpful
This is a groundbreaking exploration of what you can do TODAY with BIM to make your buildings sustainable. Its got a lot of pictures and graphics that neatly explain the concepts. You can tell from reading the first few chapters that these guys really know what they are talking about.
