Product Description
It's no secret that children are getting fatter: 17% of this country's youth are overweight or obese, and the number of diabetic children has nearly quadrupled in the past thirty years. Now, to help combat the problem, David Zinczenko, editor-in-chief of Men's Health, and co-author Matt Goulding have created Eat This, Not That! for Kids. This must-have guide for concerned parents offers detailed analysis and nutritional tips on thousands of the most popular food choices for kids. Covering the best and worst options available at the most popular restaurants in the country as well as the healthiest—and most harmful—foods in the supermarket aisles, if kids are eating it, this book is probably analyzing it.

Other features include:
-Restaurant Report Cards on the best chain restaurants for your kids
-Drink This, Not That! for Kids
-The 20 Worst Kids' Meals in America
-10 "Healthy" Foods that Aren't

5 out of 5 stars SHOW your kids how to eat.   September 3, 2008

Just a great little book with lots of pictures to show you the best strategies to use when feeding your kids. In an age where childhood obesity and diabetes is rampant, this is a good book to read.

5 out of 5 stars Great Resource   September 3, 2008

This book describes an amazing way of thinking about weight control for your kids. Not necessarily by giving up eating out, but learning to make better food choices both at home and at restaurants. The author's point out that making smart food choices is all about having the knowledge. This book can help you to help your children make better choices.

This book definitely gives you the inside look at the nutritional value of foods in your child's favorite eating joints as well as advice on what to choose when they are facing a variety of options.

I plan on keeping this copy handy for both my shopping trips and at restaurants. It is a great reference. And it's not just for kids...this book helps me as well!

5 out of 5 stars Terrific Help for Kids and Parents   September 2, 2008
1 out of 1 found this review helpful

This book is terrific like the adult version. It is a great help for kids to look for themselves at how to make wiser choices without just hearing from their parents. Also, many people are on the run and don't take the time to read labels, so this is helpful to carry with you to make wiser choices. Carry it in the car so your child can choose before you order fast food or restaurant food. Kids love to make their own choices and they feel good about themselves when you trust them to make a wise choice. The price is right for something that can help cut calories with small incremental changes.

5 out of 5 stars Even better than the first one!   September 1, 2008

I received this book as a gift from someone who knew how much I liked the first one - and this one is even better! It's bright and clear and easy to understand, and gives great suggestions for making healthier options appealing to kids. My little one isn't quite on solid food yet, but I can't wait to use all this info with her as she grows up!!

5 out of 5 stars Mandatory Parent Reading   August 29, 2008

This book is amazing. I thought I knew something about nutrition, but this takes it to a whole new, shocking level. The best part, the pictures make it easy for my 5 year old son to understand what's healthy, what's not. A cereal that he loves is on the "NOT" page-- he refused to eat it. I felt guilty for even offering (I swear, I didn't know.... the sugar looked okay compared to the others... there was fiber... ).

Loved it, loved it, loved it. They should give it out at the hospitals before handing you the baby!

The only down side-- you will feel horribly guilty for a few days.
