Product Description As Christians, we believe that all sins are considered equal in God's eyes. Yet while evangelicals continue to decry the Big Ones--such as abortion, adultery, and violence--we often overlook more deceptive sins. It seems we have created a sliding scale where gossip, jealousy, and selfishness comfortably exist within the church. In short, some sins have simply become acceptable. Acclaimed author Jerry Bridges believes that just as culture has lost the concept of sin, the church faces the same danger. Jerry writes not from a sense of achievement, but from the trenches of his own personal battles. Drawing from scriptural truth, he sheds light on subtle behaviors that can derail our spiritual growth. Throughout, Jerry encourages victory over personal sin through the gospel's transforming power. This release is perfect for readers who long to thoughtfully examine their lives and discover a deeper walk with God.

It's hard enough to see the truth about sin in ourselves even though we are the way we are but as you know, easy to see in others,as this book truthfully points out. The biblcal truth about sin and the sinner compaired to what God wants from us and will bring about in us if we will allow Him to is well explained in this brief look at the way we accept as "OK" the things God wants to work out of our life to make us more acceptable to Him. The work He begain in us when we first believed He will continue here on this earth until we go to be with Him. This book can help to see this truth from the word of God and act upon it and more glorify our God for who He is and what He has done for us.
Will make you think! August 30, 2008 Jerry Bridges has a way of getting to the point. There is no "fluff" in this book. It is practical, personal and convicting in a very valuable way.
Bridges exposes many of the things that we ignore (and some we even celebrate) as the sin that it is. Great for personal or group reading.
A Biblical and helpful examination of sins we easily ignore August 27, 2008 Respectable Sins: Confronting the Sins We Tolerate
Jerry Bridges has written a helpful and Biblical examination of some of more commonly overlooked sins. The author calls Christians to repentance in areas of their lives that they often overlook or ignore. Though the chapters are brief, they are well written and Biblically-grounded. Bridges challenges his readers to pursue Christ-like behavior in a similar fashion to his book "The Pursuit of Holiness." To the extent that readers apply what they read, the book will prove to be benefical in helping them grow spiritually to become more like their Savior, Jesus Christ.
Respectable Sins August 25, 2008 I highly recommend this book. As a matter of fact, I ordered two more for my friends. Strong conviction in a world that is passing away.
Excellent August 13, 2008 Great book- definitely convicting! Going through it with a small group Bible study. It provides alot to chew on and good topics for deeper discussion and accountability. Also have gotten positive feedback from all the other women in my group. Bridges doesn't sugarcoat anything but forces us to take a look at how disgusting every sin is, even the "small" ones, in the sight of a holy God.
