Amazon.com Review The Chronicles of Narnia, by C.S. Lewis, is one of the very few sets of books that should be read three times: in childhood, early adulthood, and late in life. In brief, four children travel repeatedly to a world in which they are far more than mere children and everything is far more than it seems. Richly told, populated with fascinating characters, perfectly realized in detail of world and pacing of plot, and profoundly allegorical, the story is infused throughout with the timeless issues of good and evil, faith and hope. This boxed set edition includes all seven volumes.
Product Description
Journeys to the end of the world, fantastic creatures, and epic battles between good and evil -- what more could any reader ask for in one book? The book that has it all is The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, written in 1949 by Clive Staples Lewis. But Lewis did not stop there. Six more books followed, and together they became known as The Chronicles of Narnia. For the past fifty years, The Chronicles of Narnia have transcended the fantasy genre to become part of the canon of classic literature. Each of the seven books is a masterpiece, drawing the reader into a land where magic meets reality, and the result is a fictional world whose scope has fascinated generations. This edition presents all seven books -- unabridged -- in one impressive volume. The books are presented here according to Lewis' preferred order, each chapter graced with an illustration by the original artist, Pauline Baynes. Deceptively simple and direct, The Chronicles of Narnia continue to captivate fans with adventures, characters, and truths that speak to readers of all ages, even fifty years after they were first published.

Just what I ordered October 7, 2008 I was looking for a set of the Chronicles of Narnia for my 10 year old grandson. This was what I wanted. thank you
Further up and further in! October 6, 2008 To maintain the integrity of this rating system, Amazon would need to create a category above the best. I'm glad that Hollywood (Disney no less!) made the Narnia movies, because it gave me the incentive to read what I had dismissed as a series of books written for children.
No more. The picture Lewis weaves of God, of Creation, of Jesus Christ, of sinful man and nature, of redeemed man and nature, of deep things of the soul, heart, and mind, may be the most brilliant jewel of human creativity I have yet experienced. The love of God for his creation, and the fearsome and awesome power and perfection of God is so vividly illustrated by Lewis, it made me weep with joy and sorrow.
Cs Lewis Chronicles of narnia September 19, 2008 This is a very interessing book, very imaginative, and amusing. One of my grand children read it, was delighted, and spoke to me about it. So I read too the seven books included in " The complete Chronicles of Narnia" and enjoyed it . C S Lewis was a very learned person, was interessed in the myths which he mastered, so an adult may read Narnia at two levels. For me the best of the seven books is the first book" The magician' nephew".

A wonderful book for young adventurers September 8, 2008 The Chronicles of Narnia Boxset (The Magician's Nephew; The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe; The Horese and His Boy; Prince Caspian; The Voyage of the Dawn Threader; The Silver Chair; The Last Battle)
Before I let my five-year-old son see any movie version of The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe, I wanted him to read it first and create his own interior images of Narnia. His imagination will be the better for this. The books are an appropriate alternative to the commercial campaigns of the companies hawking Transformers and Batman and Spiderman by which my son is targeted.
Good book September 5, 2008 I actually prefer a series of 7 books instead of a big one, so I could lie down on the couch and read it. Anyway, the book is well printed and inexpensive.
