Product Description
She locked up the vision like a monster in her mind's maze, but it lurked there, on The Edge of Recall.

Tessa Young is a landscape architect who specializes in the design and creation of labyrinths. For years she has immersed herself in the healing aspects of these elaborate structures, searching for God and hoping to make sense of the nightmares that have plagued her since childhood.

When Smith Chandler, a colleague who once betrayed her, offers an opportunity to reconstruct a remarkable Colonial-era labyrinth, she can't resist this project of a lifetime. But one evening, as dusk falls, an assailant ambushes Tessa and Smith and the real nightmare begins.

5 out of 5 stars The Edge of Recall by Kristen Heitzmann   October 3, 2008
The Edge of Recall by Kristen Heltzmann

Review by Carlo Gabbi Author of "An Amazing Story"

I give merit to the writer Kristen Heitzmann for this extremely good suspense story.
She immediately captivated the reader with Tessa, a female garden architect who is obsessed with labyrinths. With the help of an old lover, who she distrust now, she try to create a labyrinth that posses the old time charms with deep meanings.

Through the pages of this novel we learn all about the implications a labyrinth has and the puzzle represented by a network of paths and walls, through which one has to find a way, or better it represent in our case, the mental confusion ed information that one can have, and which in contrast is called maze.

Labyrinths are forming the base and the background of this fascinating story, rich with suspense and plots, twist and turns, that keep with expectation, turning page after page. Then contrary of what first was formulated in your thought, you find to have not guess rightly. Finally all comes unexpected and unpredictable.

The Edge of Recall is a highly suspens novel, one of a few good fictions books which really give pleasure to read.

I'm looking forward to read more of Kristen Heitzmann.

4 out of 5 stars Things Aren't What They Seem   September 14, 2008
Night terror! Tormenting dreams! Tess was afraid to go to sleep. The dream was usually the same with a few variations. This was real for Tess; she would wake up screaming, sweating and breathing hard from all the running she had been doing in her dream. She was being chased by monsters and couldn't run fast enough through the labyrinth. Funny thing about monsters though, they played by their own rules. She felt like she couldn't escape this torment. "She just had to get through the night, and she wasn't too proud to admit she couldn't do it alone." She made the call to Dr. Brenner for help. He had always been there for her. He helped her live with these dreams - always hoping for a cure.

These horrible dreams were just part of her life. She thought she was coping just fine until Smith Chandler called. He invited her to be part of his dream team on this amazing job. She hadn't heard from him in 6 years and now he calls wanting her help? She goes to check out the job; it's everything she has desired to work on and so much more. Things get complicated as old, painful feelings and memories start to stir with Smith around. Had Tess gotten more than she bargained for? She had to do this job no matter what the personal cost to her was. She had to make this work somehow; she felt her life depended on it. She felt hope that maybe she would get to the root of all these monster dreams - it was worth the risk.

I was memorized at how well Kristen Heitzmann described these dreams - it was so real. From the first page I had entered Tess's world hook, line and sinker. Once you start this book you can't stop. So forget what you had planned for the day; this story is so gripping you'll keep reading like I did. I had to find out if Tess Young does unlock her night terrors. There are so many surprising things that happened along the way. I just couldn't put this book down - neither will you.

5 out of 5 stars The Edge of Recall   August 26, 2008

THE EDGE OF RECALL by Kristen Heitzmann has twists and turns that resemble the very Labyrinths Tessa Young creates.
Tessa Young is a landscape architect whose specialty is Labyrinths. When she is called on by Smith Chandler, a former colleague and love interest to help him with the project of a lifetime, she can't refuse. But Tessa has more problems than trying to deny her inner feelings for Smith. Haunted her entire life by nightmares of mazes, monsters, and desertion, this new project has her subconscious working on overtime. With the help of her therapist, Tessa tries to uncover what it is she has blocked from her memory. As she works to reconstruct the Colonial-era labyrinth, flashes of memory begin to resurface. She feels the labyrinth holds the key to her nightmares. Or are her nightmares coming to life?
I am not a sci-fi or fantasy reader so I didn't know if I could embrace a story that had such a mystical overtone. But since Kristen Heitzmann is one of my favorite authors, I knew I had to give it a try. I am so glad I did. I thoroughly enjoyed THE EDGE OF RECALL. It captivated me, pulling me in as Tessa struggled to find answers from her past. At times I was frustrated with Tessa's hot and cold running feelings for Smith but it only made me want to read further to see if these two characters would ever be able to overcome the obstacles they put on themselves.
A great read! You won't want to put it down.

5 out of 5 stars Get Ready for a Surprise   August 23, 2008

If you are a fan of Kristen Heitzmann, get ready for a surprise! She has entered a whole new world...the world of psychological thriller. Once again, this book displays the depth and breadth of her writing abilities. Before now, she displayed her skill in historical and contemporary fiction. Now she does the same in the world of psychological thriller.

When reading The Edge of Recall, it's hard to imagine that Kristen will be able to pull together all of the threads and plots she weaves into a believable conclusion. However, she does that and so much more. Not only are you involved in a wonderful storyline, but you are learning a wealth of information on labyrinths.

This psychological thriller will keep you reading late into the night. As a former high school English teacher, I am delighted to read books by an author who does more than have a good storyline. Her writing is a work of art. Every sentence is crafted with beauty and excellence. Thank you, Kristen.
