Product Description First he’ll learn her most intimate secrets. Then he’ll arouse her deepest passions. He’s the lover she’s been waiting for: the man who can rescue her from her wicked past–for a price–in Madeline Hunter’s tale of sin, seduction, and irresistible, impossible love.
He catches her eye across the dining room–a handsome stranger who stands out among the lewd noblemen and bawdy painted women. But their worlds are about to collide in a way Roselyn Longworth could never have imagined. For before the night is out, she will be auctioned off to the highest bidder…and Kyle Bradwell will lead her from one kind of hell to another. Yet from the moment he wins her, Kyle treats Rose with a gentleness she hasn’t known since a family scandal destroyed her reputation. And when she finally learns what is really driving Kyle, it’s too late. For Rose has fallen for the man who knows her most intimate secrets. Now he has stunned her with a proposal of marriage–the first step in a seduction that will demand nothing less than her complete surrender.…

I would pass! July 23, 2008 I really tried to like this novel - but let just say my house has been cleaned! Rose's brothers were in banking and stole all the investor's money and the investors are out for revenge. She becomes a pawn to evil Lord Norbury - Then walks in knight on a white horse - Kyle Bradwell to save the day. Rose and Kyle story just didn't work for me.
If you were my friend I would suggest checking this book out at the library if you are a fan of this author - otherwise save your money.
Not anything special July 8, 2008 1 out of 6 found this review helpful
Although I understand several reviews rave about Ms. Hunter's latest work, I however found it to be rather boring and think perhaps Ms. Hunter should just stick to teaching. The plot has potential however is very slow to pick up. Not for your typical romance reader.
An improvement June 17, 2008 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
The good news is that this book is better than the previous book in the series 'Lessons of desire', which I thought was truly awful. This is a very competent story which some lovely romantic touches, but it didn't quite hit the same emotional note that the first book in the series did 'Rules of seduction'. This is a stand alone book but to really understand the full implications of what's going on, I would recommend you read the first in the series before this book.
Good read...unbelievable premise June 16, 2008 As with most MH books, the story is well written and the connection between the hero and heroine has emotional resonance. That being said, the premise of this story irked me. How could somone who is raised in the uptight victorian straight and narrow ever 'mistakenly' think that a pre-marital affiar will not alter her social ranking, notwithstanding social fall from grace???
Excellent Bounce Back June 14, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I was disappointed in Ms. Hunter's previous book in this series, Lessons of Desire. The first book, The Rules of Seduction, was richly written, with characters really worth caring about. LOD was more difficult to appreciate because the heroine's upbringing made her an unsympathetic character for much of the story.
Happily, SECRETS OF SURRENDER returns to the background story introduced in TROS, and the damage done by two careless brothers continues to haunt the women in their family. Although the book stands fully on its own, I would suggest reading TROS first to understand the real emotional conflicts faced by Rose in Secrets of Surrender.
