4 out of 5 stars Perfect Read   June 30, 2008
Tessa Whitfield is a successful Wedding & Event Planner who is sought after by celebrities and society's elite. Micah Sanborn is a successful former Police Officer turned Assistant District Attorney. When Micah's sister hires Tessa to coordinate her wedding, that's where Micah and Tessa paths cross. And from the moment they set eyes on each other, that's when the sparks fly.

This book is great for two reasons:

Great summer read:
For anyone who loves romance without the predictable fairy tale story, this is the book for you. The two main characters have checkered pasts and hurt feelings that prevent them from giving their full heart to one another.

Characters w/ real life issues:
Tessa and Micah are two very successful African-Americans with supporting families and full lives. Micah's family is very diverse and his story helps you appreciate your own family. Tessa's family on the other hand, is abundant with successful and stylish women: a former Model, a Florist and Dressmaker. They are very close-knit and want Tessa to fall in love and be happy.

The book was romantic, without being irritatingly idealistic. I look forward to Ms. Alers next book in the Whitfield series, The Sweetest Temptation.

5 out of 5 stars A New Year Delight (Rating 4.5)   June 23, 2008

Rochelle Alers pens a quirky yet loving romantic novel about two individuals who have been hurt the past and they are not sure how to overcome their love until they find each other.

Tessa Whitfield never thought she would find true love. Finding love or what she thought the first time turned out to be a devastating blow. When she found out that, her lover had a wife and was nothing but lies with those thoughts in mind she threw herself into running her business and promising herself she would never fall in love again. Tessa had rules when it came to clients, their families and her business there was no dating of anyone associated with a Signature Bride. However when Micah Sanborn walks into her life she finds herself having to go on the defensive because he entices her in a way that makes her considered her life.

Micah Sanborn always had issues when it came to women it started early in life and continued on with him but when he meets Tessa Whitfield she turns his life upside down. Knowing that he could never love her or at least that was his thought he continuously fought the feeling that he knew as love. When he finds himself falling in love he puts up his armor wall to force her away with both of their lives keeping them apart he begins to realize he misses her. When he finds himself feeling incomplete without her he digs deep within himself to find the ability to admit to her his feelings.

Long Time Coming is a quick and funny read that shows two families who are uniquely different but in so many ways alike. Full with laughter and love, this novel is a novel that is a quick and easy read.

4 out of 5 stars Nice and Romantic Read   June 22, 2008
I realy enjoyed this book and look forward to reading the other books in this series. I do agree with some of the other reviewers who said there were too many "descriptive passages of wonderful food, clothing and decor". After awhile I simply skipped over those parts. Overall, I still really enjoyed the book.

5 out of 5 stars Long Time Coming   June 7, 2008
Tessa is a wedding planner who loves weddings but has doubts about having a true love in her life. She meets the brother of one of her expectant brides Micah Sanborn and there is an instant attraction. While he is there a blackout occurs and because she feels comfortable with him, she lets him spend the night at her town house. She realizes that there are good men out there even though he is one that does not believe in love or marriage because the one woman he loved (his biological mother) abandoned him when he was a child. He is adoped by a loving family but still does not believe in giving his heart to another female. Great story and you will have to read the story to find out what happens at the end with this great wedding story.

This was a good read. The chemistry between the characters was very believable. The secondary characters were also very strong. I loved the multi-cultural family. I enjoyed the descriptive nature of the scenes, I felt like I was there. The wedding scene in the end had me in tears; it was beautiful. I am looking forward to the second ook in this series. I would recommend reading this book.
