A UFO APPEARS IN PENNSYLVANIA, 1930 Subtitle: Many Tragedies Occur The same UFO appears in Michigan, 1996 By Helen Gismondi

This book is drawn from a diary kept by Helen Gismondi. Intriguingly, she claims to have had two visits from a UFO, and to have been instructed by it to write the book.

Unfortunately, there is very little mention of the UFO events in the book itself. There are less than fifty words about it. It is described in the text as a "ship-shaped" object, although described on the back of the book as "space-ship shaped": a significant difference. Readers looking for information about UFOs will be disappointed by the mere passing mention given here.

What the book does contain is philosophy about how you should live your life. While that can certainly be interesting, the grammar here is so quirky and irregular that I found it extremely difficult to read. Let me give you a couple of examples chosen from pages selected at random:

"Your actions measure the policies; you retain significant common sense that is virtually impressive."

"Supremely with merit well earned and excellence to be beneficial but eliminate perversion completely within this world."

It reminded me a bit of a book of poetry I have which was written by a computer (THE POLICEMAN'S BEARD IS HALF-CONSTRUCTED). It also seems as though it could have been written by someone with no knowledge of English using a phrasebook.

While I doubt that is the case, the book could have used some severe editing to make it more understandable. It is possible that there are significant insights here, but they are certainly difficult to detect. If a reader wants it as a collector's item for their ufological bookshelf, I could understand the purchase. If not, there are many other first-person UFO books(such as THE WHITE SANDS INCIDENT) that are better reads and more instructive.
