Utter WASTE of Money, Not Based on Exam in ANY WAY!!! June 2, 2008 Just took the CSET exam a few weeks ago. Studied this book front to cover, made flash cards, etc. These books are a complete waste of time, money, and paper! I studied them page to page with a highlighter, made flash cards, and crammed up until the very last moment. These books were clearly written by someone that has NEVER seen an actual CSET exam. I am thoroughly disappointed, and these books were an absolute WASTE of my time, effort, and especially the HIGH price I paid. Don't waste your money on them!
Spelling Counts April 27, 2008 The book serves its purpose but has extensive (!) spelling and capitalization errors. We found over 50 of them total. It is clear that the text was not proofed by a team of editors, therefore I question the accuracy of the content as well.
There must be something better out there February 27, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This is an incomplete, poorly written, poorly edited farce. If you can overlook the fragmented and grammatically incorrect writing style and the fact that Part II of CSET test #118 as described in the Subject Matter Requirements published by CCTC is NOT COVERED BY THIS MANUAL, then this is the "guide" for you. I agree with the other reviewers that this is not a worthwhile purchase. Perhaps there is a guide endorsed by CCTC or the California Teachers' Union. XAM is a Boston-based company that publishes guides for tests all over the country. Find a publisher familiar with CCTC standards! And the English language.
Waste of Money January 23, 2008 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
This book was awful and not helpful at all. It was an absolute waste of my money and the book was not cheap! It didn't help me study for my CSET exam at all and I would not recommend other buyers to purchase this product.
Not so good April 5, 2007 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
This book is a brief... VERY brief overview of the test. The test requires more in-depth knowledge of the material than this "so-called" study book can offer. The book is mediocre. The sample test questions are a joke! The explanation are not that great either. However, this CSET 118/119 book is slightly better than their CSET 120/124 version.
