An excellent compendium for physiology lectrues July 1, 2008 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
This new edition of the classical text book Goodman and Gilmans is further improved. Arguments are clearly exposed, with a preliminary background on the physiology of the organ and functional aspects of each class of drug and chemical compounds. It is an excellent reference book for my lectures on General Physiology to undergraduate students. I often use it also when preparing lectures to PhD students at the School of Neuroscience.
Didn't meet the expectation April 12, 2007 3 out of 5 found this review helpful
I have bougth an earlier edition and had great expectation for an update. In my field of interest, psychiatry, it was a disappointment. Could be a good book for students.
Essential Pharmacology Text March 16, 2007 2 out of 5 found this review helpful
Every pharmaceutcial chemist and pharmacologist needs a copy of this book. No other textbook comes close.
Get the 10th edition. July 7, 2006 21 out of 25 found this review helpful
I can't say that I'm pleased with the new edition. The information is grossly disorganized, there are no introductory chapters, and important information has been omitted or dumbed down, e.g. the section on fat-soluble vitamins, specifically vitamin A. If you're buying, get the 10th ed. The new edition is definitely a step down for Goodman & Gilman.
