Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
This book explains the decision-making processes for the management of instrumented protective systems (IPS) throughout a project's life cycle. It uses the new IEC 61511 standard as a basis for the work processes used to achieve safe and reliable process operation. By walking the reader through a project's life cycle, engineering, maintenance, and operations, the information allows users to easily focus on their responsibilities and duties. Using this approach, the book is useful as a primer, guidelines reference, and resource manual. Examples provide the added "real-world" experience applications.

Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars The most complete Functional Safety book available for everyone active in the process industry   July 9, 2007

This is probably the most complete book about the topic Functional Safety in the Process Industry. IEC 61511 - ISA 84.00.01 are very practically explained. I would like to rate this book as one of the best available on the market today (summer 2007) and would urge every one active in any part of the life cycle activities to read this book more than once and make it the reference guide for good engineering practise and to keep ultimately your process plant(s) safe!

5 out of 5 stars Will become a much used reference book   May 18, 2007

This book provides a comprehensive explanation of when, why, and how to specify, design, install, validate, operate and maintain process industry protection systems. Far more than a one time read, this book will undoubtly become an often used engineer's reference guide.
