Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
This inspiring new book gives readers an inside look at the dogs who are rescued and rehabilitated by Best Friends Animal Society at Dogtown, part of the largest no-kill animal haven in the United States. This sanctuary hosts hundreds of dogs from around the world (including 22 pit bulls who were rescued from their painful lives with Michael Vick), as well as cats, horses, guinea pigs, rabbits, goats, and various other animals - between 1,500-2,000 animals in all. Dogtown is the subject of a television series on the National Geographic Channel; new episodes will begin September 5, 2008. Like the TV show, Dogtown depicts the engrossing stories of the dogs that are rescued and rehabilitated at the facility by its top-notch staff of veterinarians and trainers. Readers will learn about the relationships that flourish between the dogs and the trainers, and see how happy endings are possible for these dogs.

5 out of 5 stars All Dogs Shall Have Their Day   October 11, 2008
This is a heartwarming, uplifting book about a sanctuary for dogs in Kanab, Utah. Dogtown workers go out on nationwide runs to rescue abandoned and abused dogs; dogs from closed puppy mills and dogs from disasters such as Hurricane Katrina.

The efforts of these humane and dedicated workers have stretched worldwide. In 2006, Dogtown workers airlifted many dogs from Lebanon who had been left to fend for themselves after a war had broken out.

This humane and compassionate facility for dogs will certainly touch all hearts. Older animals who are less likely to be adopted are housed in a separate area for senior pets; nationwide adoptions are held and workers continue their tireless efforts to save and in some cases rehabilite dogs with special needs.

Hats off to Dogtown!

5 out of 5 stars Dogtown:Sanctuary for Rescued Dogs is excellent book   October 6, 2008
This book shares information about Dogtown at Best Friends Sanctuary. It is an uplifting book that shows what
people are doing to help dogs with behavior problems, health issues to become whole and hopefully find a
forever home. With all the news about the abuse of animals, it is encouraging to read about people working
to be the solution. While we cannot all start a program as expansive at Dogtown, we can at least support
such facilities so they can continue to rescue dogs that people have abused or abandoned.Dogtown: A Sanctuary for Rescued Dogs

5 out of 5 stars An uplifting tale that dog lovers will relish   September 4, 2008
For a species dubbed Man's best friend, canines are sadly horribly abused by their so-called friends. "Dogtown: A Sanctuary for Rescued Dogs" is the story of the country's biggest no kill animal sanctuary. The sanctuary focuses on keeping animals in loving homes and off the streets and away from cruel masters. An uplifting tale that dog lovers will relish, "Dogtown" is enhanced with more than eighty full color photos, earning it an enthusiastic recommendation.
