Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
Recounts the turbulent seven-year run of the renegade World Hockey Association, from its inception and first games in 1972 to its close and merger with the NHL in 1979. It was the first league to actively court American-born and European-born players, it was the league in which Bobby Hull and Gordie Howe rejuvenated their careers and it was the league that first presented such superstars as Mike Gartner, Rod Langway, Michel Goulet, Mark Howe, Mark Messier and of course, Wayne Gretzky. The book is a complete historical and statistical encyclopedic reference of the WHA, including game-by-game results, standings, playoffs, complete player and golie register, drafts, international series, team histories, amusing stories and over 500 player head shots. If it happened in the WHA, it's in here!

Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars The Definitive World Hockey Association Book   June 29, 2008
Finally, we have a book that accurately chronicles the late, great, World Hockey Association. This book is a complete statistical record of the renegade league's seven year history. And the narrative/commentary is factual, unlike some other books written about the WHA that are less than accurate due to faded memories of those being interviewed.
Of special note is "The Teams of the World Hockey Association" chapter that details each teams's history.
This book is a "must have" for not only fans who are old enough to remember the WHA, but also for younger fans who need to know how much the current NHL is still influenced by the trends/direction that the WHA set into motion.
