Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
Best-selling writer Jimmy Buffett weaves an irresistible new tale---filled with colorful characters, wry humor, and the pursuit of a very clever pig.

When Southern belle Ellie McBride moves her twins from Vertigo, Tennessee to New York City, they wouldn't dream of leaving behind the family pig Rumpy. But the posh hotel where Ellie has found work (and living space) has "No Pets" writ large on its portal. So hiding Rumpy from the hotel staff---especially the ultra-carnivorous hotel chef, who would like nothing better than to transform their pet into pork roast---becomes imperative.

1 out of 5 stars Not the typical Buffett offering   July 7, 2008

Having enjoyed much of his writing I bought the book without knowing anything about it. My trust was violated. This book is nothing like his earlier efforts and I found it boring. I stopped reading it about 50 pages in and will donate this book to get it away. Don't waste your time.

5 out of 5 stars Humorous Pig Tale   July 7, 2008

Jimmy Buffett's wild tale of Rumpy the pig and his adventures in Manhattan are a great escape. It's a quirky view of life and your loved ones in the big city - sort of Green Acres against a backdrop of Bonfire of the Vanities. I giggled over absurdities and was touched by the real character conflicts. If you enjoy laughing at life and like an insider's view of modern cultures, I'd also suggest Silicon Valley Game.

4 out of 5 stars Slightly Disappointed Parrothead   July 4, 2008

I am a dyed-in-the-wool (or should I say, dyed-in-the feather?)Parrothead and have loved Jimmy's past endeavors in writing and was looking forward to recieving this book. Cute, but really for the younger set, not the adults. I tried hard to get into it but just couldn't muster the love for the book that I expected. Still an interesting story and if you consider that it was based off of a real pig living in NYC and the fact that they dressed the pig like a dog is a hoot. Speaking of "hoot" - this would be a cute movie like "Hoot" which my younger daughter has watched many times. That's where I'd like to see this story headed - a good, clean, fun movie for the kids that I'd watch with them.

4 out of 5 stars Summer Fun   July 3, 2008

Jimmy Buffett might noteven be on my list of favorite singers; But he is a Great writer of both tunes and books. He sure has the ability to weave a story. This one is a light read - great for summer and for All ages. My 12-year old niece enjoyed the book as well.
