Once a sexy nobody whom Lou helped make a somebody, Jack's just been dumped by a high-profile Hollywood airhead -- who's eloped with Lou's longtime love! So what else could go wrong? Well... Their pilot could try to shoot the most adored man in America. They could crash land in the icy, mountainous middle of nowhere. And at the worst possible moment, when survival should be their only consideration, Jack could start wondering if maybe he wasn't a wee bit too hasty for not giving this sexy screenwriter a second look -- while Lou could start noticing how superstar Jack is kind of hot after all ... I've Read Better June 28, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
As Meg Cabot's self described biggest fan I have not only read most of her books, but also thoroughly enjoyed them. Whether it was getting lost in the royal world of The Princess Diaries, the supernatural world of The Mediator series, following Lizzie Nichols quest for love in Queen of Babble, or laughing along with Heather Wells as she tries to solve yet another mystery, I have adored and loved Meg Cabot's writing. However, She Went All the Way did not compare to her other works. Granted, I read She Went All the Way after all the above books mentioned, so the bar has been set pretty high. The story follows Lou Calabrese, a screenwriter and Jack Townsend, an actor loved by the American public. When Lou's ex runs off and marries Jack's ex, the already awkward relationship between the two gets even more uncomfortable. So, of course the two are scheduled on the same helicopter to Alaska where Jack is filming a movie written by Lou. When the pilot's failed attempt to murder Jack crashes the helicopter, Lou and Jack are forced to trek through the arctic in order to survive. Along the way, the two feuding parties learn they have to work together in order to survive, and try to ignore the growing chemistry between them. While this seems like an interesting plot, the delivery is just not believable. The story starts to drag in the middle and each day in the arctic is the same as before, wake up to gun shots, avoid gun shots, miraculously find shelter just as night falls, repeat. While it's obvious that Lou and Jack despise each other, their fighting becomes annoying and tiresome. I put the book down for a few days because I couldn't get through it. I'm not saying you shouldn't read it. Once I got past all the repeating dialogue and plots, it turned out to by an okay book. Just be warned- it's not Meg Cabot's best.
Amazing! November 26, 2007 Ohhhhhh, this book was so good! It's one of those feel-good, fluffy romance books, full of the cutest scenes and moments that make you all tingly! Definitely recommend to all!
If you love Susan E. Phillips- you will love this book. August 8, 2007 You may know of her from her Princess Diaries series and be surprised to know that she also writes adult fiction and does so extremely well. If you're a fan of Jennifer Crusie or Mary Janice Davidson, this smart, sassy tale will definitely bring a smile to your face. Talk about ungrateful!!! After she wrote a movie for her actor boyfriend and made him into one of the biggest stars around, the rat has just run off with his co-star from said movie (maybe writing it wasn't such a good idea after all). To make matters worse the eloping boyfriend stealing starlet just happens to be the girlfriend of her arch nemesis, film star Jack Townsend. Then to throw the whole situation into the realms of farce she ends up crash landing in the icy wilds of Alaska with only Jack for company (hmm maybe someone's put a hex on her). After bickering and sniping their way through the snow, suddenly they're starting to see each other through a glaze of lust, though hopefully this insanity will wear off once they're back in civilization, which will never happen if the bunch of psychos chasing them down has their way. Craziness and high jinks abound in this fun, action packed romp, and you'll love the sparks flying between Jack and Lou.
