5 out of 5 stars A pop-up book for adults...   August 2, 2008
Pros: Absolutely beautiful illustrations, a detailed chronology, devotes several pages to each book.

Cons: Not the best choice for children, not the best choice for people not familiar with the books.

This pop-up book is full gorgeous illustrations, many of them full color versions of the ones that appear in the actual books, many of them original. There are lots of pop-ups and hidden little flaps.

This book is not exactly shallow either -- it offers a full, detailed chronology of Narnia that any fans of the series will love. It devotes multiple pages to each book, so that it is really quite long.

Unfortunately, I can not say that this book would be good for children. I suspect that it would be torn up in a minute and they would probably not be interested in all the little tidbits of info in the margins.

There is no reason to buy this if you are not a Narnia fan, but if you are, it could make the perfect coffee table book.

4 out of 5 stars Charming Coffee Table Book   July 19, 2008
2 out of 2 found this review helpful

This charming coffee table book has many positives and only a couple of negatives.

Positives:

The artwork is excellent. / The size, binding, and overall quality of the book is refreshing. / The story, of course, is a classic. / This book could be used by a grandparent or parent to offer hours of bedtime story tellng. / All in all the book is captivating and entertaining.

Negatives:

It tries to combine the chronicles into one interactive book. By its nature, it must be simplistic. Therefore, one needs to already know the story to enjoy the book. / The book appears to be too fragile to be left alone with young children.

5 out of 5 stars Narnia (a great place to live)   July 12, 2008

The classic pieces of artwork, in this book, fit all along with the classic litature by C.S. Lewis. Kids as well as grown ups will enjoy this fantasy fiction timeline. I was suprised with how many interactive idems could be in one book. Being an avid fan of Narnia, as i am, I will enjoy handing this book down to my children and telling them of all the adventures of Narnia!

5 out of 5 stars Overview of the Seven Narnia Books   June 19, 2008
1 out of 2 found this review helpful

A book with nostalgic illustrations, some movable pieces which appeal to younger children who enjoy the pop-up variety of books, and an overview of each of the seven Chronicles of Narnia--all combined into one lovely volume! This book is nice enough to place on your coffee table for guests to peruse, or to savor with a young child who cannot yet read the books for himself. This is a purchase well worth its price.
