No ratings; no help April 28, 2007 10 out of 10 found this review helpful
One would hope that an "Insider's" Guide might have ratings and/or recommendations - for hotels in particular. A mere list and description of them is something that can easily be obtained with a quick search of the internet. They have a section for Bed & Breakfasts, but I couldn't find any of the particular resorts I was interested in. To truly be helpful, help us decide which places are best for the family, for couples, etc. with a simple star rating system.
Better to have no guide book at all - literally. April 18, 2007 13 out of 13 found this review helpful
I travel a lot, and I am a planner, so I am no stranger to guide books. This is the worst guide book I have ever used. The one positive is that it is well written and easy to understand. But that is, truly, the only positive.
Pricing information was woefully inaccurate. Hotels that no longer exist were listed. Hotels that do exist weren't listed. Multiple website URLs that are no longer live were listed. Driving directions were not only wrong (e.g. to the Williamsburg Winery), but obviously wrong when a rudientary map was consulted. The basic fact-checking one would expect for a current guide book had obviously not been conducted. That leads me to blame the publisher, not the author, and as result I will never again purchase an "Insiders Guide."
