Product Description The task of choosing the right prostate cancer treatment is daunting. It is further complicated by conflicting information the patient receives from physicians and the Internet. This book is written by a prostate cancer survivor who now runs an international prostate cancer support group. Its about his journey and the important things he learned along the way. It is the book the author wishes had been available when he was diagnosed 6 years ago. It is intended to provide specific information for men who are at risk or have been recently diagnosed with prostate cancer. All major treatment options are examined and the pros and cons of each are summarized. A relatively new, non-invasive, highly effective treatment is highlighted. It is an option that cures cancer as well as any other option, but generally leaves the patient with a higher quality of life and fewer, if any, side effects. This book has been endorsed by several physicians as well as other highly respected people from all walks of life.

Most easily understood book on prostate cancer July 4, 2008 I have read quite a few prostate cancer books and this one is the most well-written and understandable books that I have found.
The no BS book! July 3, 2008 I had a friend, who is a prostate cancer survivor, recommend this book as soon as he heard that my PSA had ratcheted up to 5.7. I am darn glad that I got it before my doctors convinced me that conventional "wisdom" for a guy may age (59) was to have my prostate removed. The book is quite informative, straight to the point, and even engaging from a personal point of view. I strongly recommend the book, and the author has, pretty much, dedicated his life to answering emails from many of us who are trying to remain optimistic at a very difficult time, while at the same time trying to assimilate all of the true facts about treatment options. In a word, impressive!

Don't Miss This One.... June 22, 2008 Bob Marckini has written a superb book to help us understand the maze of treatment options available to those diagnosed with prostate cancer. Most importantly, it covers Proton Beam radiation, the latest option that is reported to keep the side effects of incontinence and impotence at a minimum. Selecting a treatment option seemed impossible until I found Bob's book, which provides all the essential questions I needed to talk with my urologist, and to arrive at the best solution for me.
The book includes personal accounts of men from all walks of life, including many doctors and professional men who developed the cancer, and were committed to finding a way to beat it. These graduates of the Proton Beam have grouped together as the Brotherhood of the Balloon, ready to support those who are now just starting their journey.
Don't miss this one. It's extremely well written and an easy read that I finished in two days. It zeros in on the most important aspect of prostate cancer, the quality of life you want when all the treatments are finished.
The best treatment available June 20, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Dr Robert Marckini is a very caring individual and has been through prostate cancer himself. We met him when my husband was going through treatment at Loma Linda University Hospital. We were very impressed with his dedication to the well being of the men undergoing prostate cancer treatment, both physican and mental. The book tells it like it is and the proton beam is a wonderful advancement in treatment for this dreaded disease. From personal experience we know it works. There is little or no discomfort under going this treatment and the percentage of cures is greater than other options. My husband has been cancer free from February 2006 until now 6/2008. We went sightseeing almost every day to different parts of Southern California after his early morning 1 minute 20 second painless treatment. We felt guilty enjoying ourselves so much when we were there. Read the book and believe that it is true, it is!! W ANDERSON
