No other guide book is as fair as this one, a must book for all piano purchasers. November 4, 2008 This book covers all knowledge one needs to know about pianos. Only one thing lacking is, it does not introduce any small Japanese piano makers located in Hamamatsu, while I undersand those makers are not well known by other countries' people. In the next issue, I strongly suggest the author to consider including some of those makers, such as Schwester, Wistaria, Kreuzer etc. All in Hamamatsu in Japan and they are actually producing far better instrumnts than the Japanese two mega piano companies. In any way, the existence of this book is really a help for any piano purchasers, a big thanks to Larry. Oh, one more request - this should be translated into Japanese as they are the ones who do not mind paying money no matter how much, and are eager to know the truth. They have been forced to believe in the agents' sales talk due to lack of information. I do not mind becoming the translator...?
Larry knows his pianos! October 20, 2008 Once again, Larry Fine updates his extremely useful Piano Book. The basic information about pianos, piano makers, piano buying, etc. is all in "The Piano Book", and every couple of years he puts out a supplement. That way we can know what's improving and what to look out for. Thanks, Larry!
Detailed with perspective October 2, 2008 Very well written and complete. It includes the details that most of us not working in the piano field need in order to make a good decision.
The Piano Bood Supplement 2008-09 August 5, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Great book if you are shopping for a Piano. It gives you a wealth of information regarding pianos, piano manufacturers and the whole industry. This is the supplement to The Piano Book - so it has the updates on manufacturer reviews (lots of changes in the last 5 years due to Asian manufacturing, company mergers, and ones that are no longer in bus).
