Product Description As a little girl, Jane has no one. Her mother Vivienne Margaux, the powerful head of a major New York theater company has no time for her. But she does have one friend--Michael--and no one can see him but her. But Michael can't stay with Jane forever, and on her eighth birthday, her imaginary friend must leave her.
When Jane is in her thirties, working for her mother's company, she is just as alone as she was as a child. Her boyfriend hardly knows she's there and is more interested in what Vivienne can do for his career. Her mother practically treats her as a slave in the office, despite the great success of Jane's first play, "Thank Heaven." Then she finds Michael--handsome, and just the same as she remembers him, only now he's not imaginary. For once in her life, Jane is happy--and has someone who loves her back. But not even Michael knows the reason behind why they've really been reunited.

Beautiful Modern Fairytale July 25, 2008 I was surprised after finishing this book on how many negative reviews it got. I devoured it in 5 hours! This is acually the first James Patterson book that I actually finished (I started reading Beach Road, but I didn't care for his writing style). It is a beautiful love story that I could see making a great movie.
What was he thinking? July 24, 2008 Better yet, what was his publishing company thinking? This is a poor excuse for a novel by a writer who usually scores big. I have loved Suzanne's Diary for Nicholas and really liked Sam's Letters to Jennifer. Therefore, I expected this novel to meet Patterson's usual standards. It came no where close. The concept was too far flung to work for a novel aimed at adults. It would be better marketed to pre teens! It was childish and impossible. I have read many stories that factor in fantasy or the supernatural, so it's not that I don't like that genre. However, Patterson needs to stick to either murder mystery or romance and leave the fantasy to better equipped authors. Don't waste your time on this novel.
sunday at tiffany's July 22, 2008 Wonderful read! Great for summer! I always wonder about the imaginary characters that children sometimes find to chat and be friends. Seems like this one was real. It is a wonderful love story and I highly recommend it. B. Credle
Quite the let down..... July 21, 2008 I'm a huge James Patterson fan so I may have expected too much. As I read this book I kept thinking is this a children's book?! Don't get me wrong it was refreshing to read a book with no curse words or sex scenes but this story lacked humph! It kept my interest and had a lovely ending but it was almost too sugary. I agree with another reviewer in that the price was too high. The name James Patterson definitely draws a higher price tag but this book just wasn't worth it.
a bit on the light side July 20, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I thought the imaginary friend concept was at least different. Other reviewers found it inplausible, maybe they have less imagination. It's a light summer read with some tear-jerking moments. Overall, I liked it because the premise was different.
