Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
This book is a step-by-step guide to drawing a variety of subjects using colored pencils. It features the artwork of Anne deMille Flood, Janie Gildow, Barbara Benedetti Newton, Lee Hammond, and Cathy Johnson. This easy-to-use guide lists the basic supplies and explains techniques involving shading, burnishing, layering, strokes (vertical, circular, stipple, loose scribble, linear, and crosshatch), lifting, and watercolor pencils. Sample drawings show how to shade a basic sphere, develop lights and darks, add color, and finishing details. The sample drawings are of bell peppers, shiny plums, a fuzzy peach, a daylily, a hibiscus, a flower on suedeboard, a flowering bush with watercolor, a bunny, a cockatiel, a golden retriever, a colored glass jar, glass on a colored surface, a woven basket, a copper pitcher, a woman's portrait, and a baby's portrait. The book also teaches how to draw facial features, a country road, a forest scene, and the woods in autumn. Stapled; 32 pages.

This is a good step by step for the artist who already draws and wants to try colored pencil. Easy to follow. Lists the colors used for the drawings, which is quite helpful for the colored pencil beginner.
