Product Description
Single-family Subdivisions o Townhouse and Cluster Developments o Mobile Homeowners Associations o Master Community Associations

A homeowners association is designed to preserve the common welfare and the property values of the community. In a properly operated community, it does. In a poorly run community, it does not. The proper operating procedures are not difficult, but they are often overlooked or misunderstood.

This manual provides a step-by-step explanation of the requirements for meetings, membership voting, and the necessary parliamentary procedures. It serves as a guide to help ensure that the association carries out its responsibilities fairly and effectively.

You will learn:
o the concept and purpose of a homeowners association
o the rights and responsibilities of individual owners
o how to run effective meetings
o what documents you need for meetings
o the rules of procedure and proper decorum
o the role of the board of directors
o the role of committees
o how to set a budget and deal with finances and insurance
o how to amend and enforce documents

In addition to the comprehensive text, there are 28 forms and sample documentsall you need to run an effective homeowners association.

4 out of 5 stars Great HOA Book   September 26, 2007
This book is well written without a lot of "fluffy" space filling verbiage. It gets to points quickly and the organization is very good. If you are involved in an HOA this book will really help. Get your state HOA rules/regs, along with this book, and you will be able to get a handle on your responsibilities as either a HOA board member or a HOA member. Great price too.

4 out of 5 stars Excellent Source for Novice Board Members   April 23, 2007

I read this book before I was elected as President of my HOA and, boy, am I glad I did. "The HOA Manual" is an excellent resource that I turn to again and again. I highly recommend this book to those who are becoming involved in Committees or Boards of HOAs.

4 out of 5 stars Homeowners Associations for Dummies   April 11, 2007

This book is written for the layman who finds himself involved in a Homeowners Association for the first time. It contains all the basics that you really need to know in a few easy-to-read chapters. The sample forms, notices and letters at the end are a real bonus for the novice association officer. I found the book very helpful, though I'm sure someone more experienced in running a homeowners association will find it a bit superficial.

This is a great book. It has everything that you need to know to run a Homeowner's Association. A must-read for anyone serving on a Homeowners Assocation Board of Directors. I wish that we had purchased this years ago.
