Product Description
Long relied on as the industry's most comprehensive, authoritative source for information on the care of pediatric patients, this respected text presents a wealth of nursing knowledge in vividly illustrated, easy-to-read chapters. Current, evidence-based practice is reflected throughout, from its emphasis on wellness to its use of the nursing process and nursing care plans. Now even more user-friendly and inviting, the updated, full-color layout and improved readability guide readers every step of the way. No other book on the subject offers more expert, practical, relevant coverage than Wong's Nursing Care of Infants & Children, 8th Edition.

  • A focus on the family throughout emphasizes the role and influence of the family in health and illness.

4 out of 5 stars A valuable clinical nursing reference   July 6, 2008
I bought this book for my wife who is a paediatric nurse. It was a prescribed textbook for the university and hospital based course. It is very comprehensive resource for the nursing professional who seeks to know all there is to know about their patients.
If there is one criticism (and it is a minor one) it is that this textbook is American-centric. Many of the measurements reflect this, and it would be nice if some of them included the metric equivalent.
We have yet to utilise the CD that came with the book although judging by the contents (a list is included in the book as well as extensive "links"), it will be an oft-referenced item in our library.

5 out of 5 stars Depth and breadth   February 28, 2008
I am a BS-RN student just starting my Pedi class. This is my favorite text yet. There is plenty of detail, and references are cited within the text. I think it's much easier to learn and retain information if you know the "why" behind the "what", and this text doesn't just gloss over the physiological reasons for nursing interventions like a lot of nursing texts unfortunately do. Thanks Dr. Hockenberry and Mr. Wilson for a great book!

5 out of 5 stars Great buy   January 10, 2008
Brand new at a used price value. New in plastic wrap, no markings like it was described by seller. Very satisfied with purchase

5 out of 5 stars Satisfied Customer   August 31, 2007
My purchase, as usual, was without any complications. I received the book I ordered in what seemed like record time...actually, I didn't even have to wait the proposed time period to get my order in the mail...even with standard ground shipping. Thank you for your prompt attention and especially for the affordable price!!!

2 out of 5 stars Great Reference Book.... Lousy Text Book   July 15, 2007
I'm a nursing student in a RN program. This book was one of our required books. The problem with this book is that it either needs a good editor, or just call it a reference book. I hated this book not because it is incomplete or because it does not have enough information, but that it has too much information. As a student in a nursing program, I feel that the best textbooks are those that quickly and concisely give you the information that you need to learn. This tome takes too long to say what it wants to say, includes information that is unnecessary, and is basically overwhelming.
