A sweet romance for a rainy day July 3, 2008 Texas Splendor is about a young eastern bred woman, Trista, whom has recently moved to Texas to marry her rich cattle barren fiance. However she is captured by her fiance's half Comanche brother, Lance; whom was turned out years ago by his white father. Lance is an angry young warrior who must chose between his soul, which is Comanche, or his love, which is Trista. It is sweet plot however I found myself skipping paragraphs just trying to get to the end. Little action, a bit boring. Romantic but nothing sizzling. Quite unbelievable. Not so surprising almost everyone is portrayed as nice and gentle except the, "in almost every romance novel"; evil Indian maiden who is trying to steal her man from the innocent ravishing white beauty. Just once, being Native myself, I would like to see our women written with respect; as a female that loves just as deep as the whites, as having a heart, as being as they actually were and still are today.
Indian romance at it's best. April 8, 2008 This is a very good story, well written with strong characters throughout. It was also refreshing that there were no soldiers in it like a lot of Indian romances also no reservations!A thoroughly good read.

Okay, BUT April 5, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I liked the story and the hero (Lance) but i could not stand the heroin (Trista). One minute she hates Lance for kidnapping her and being a savage with her the next she is falling into his arms making mad love with him. Michael(Lance's half brother)is engaged to Trista and she is in love with him, but is she really? She is to confused constantly through the hold book about her feelings for Lance. She would hate him one minute and fall under his love making the next minute than hate him all over again. The story it's self was good. Lance's father could not stand to look at Lance or hear his voice (at Age 7) after Lance's mother (Shinning Star) dies of the fever. So he sends Lance with his uncle (Lone Eagle) to the Comanche camp, He is raised as an Indian. Years later he is out trying to capture a golden stallion it brings him to his father ranch. He finds his father has remarried and has another son Michael and Michael is engaged to Trista. So Lance plans to kidnap her for revenge. He gets Trista and takes her to his camp. She escapes and gets back to the ranch. Lance follows her and claims she is his wife. He is united with his father who had sent letters year before to the camp for him to return to the ranch but Lance never got them. Of course the father's wife hates Lance because he is Indian and he is taking half of what is Michael's (the ranch and all the wealth it contains) and tries to have him killed but it backfires on her.In the end all works out. A good read if you like hate you love you romance. But not a keeper in my book. Dream Catcher
Excellent read April 1, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
This book was a fantastic read! Didn't want to put it down. After putting the kids to bed at night, this was a great way to unwind at the end of the day and just dream...I'm pretty picky when it comes to historical romances and this one does not disappoint in anyway. The characters were interesting, plenty of sexy scenes, and well paced. Highly recommend!
