Book Description What do you do when you are in love with someone who won't give you the time of day? How to do you convince her that she really is meant to spend the rest of her life with you when she avoids you at all costs? These are the questions that Alcee Jules (A.J.) Baptiste must answer. He knows that he wants to spend his life with Victoria (Vic) Bennett, but she wants nothing to do with love and even less to do with him. It is going to take all the scheming this man can do just to keep her in the state when she threatens to move to Atlanta, Georgia.

Double Trouble May 27, 2008 While I enjoyed Vic and Baptiste's story, I would have preferred more steamy and less suspense. The storyline was good, but not as emotionally gripping as her first book. I was amazed at the number of sets of twins in this story! Vic could not move forward with her life bcz she hadn't learned that "forgiveness is the key to the recovery of the soul". Once she got that part, it was easier for her to love and accept love. Baptiste is the one of the most patient and determined romantic heroes I've ever read about. "No" was not an option when it came to whether they would be together.
It was so sweet how T1 & T2 interacted w/ each other and with Vic, especially when Baptiste shared his first encounter w/ the twins and how they held on to each other, literally.
Jones did a good job developing the characters and storyline, however, I would call this a good suspense tale with a little romance mixed in.
"Will Love Prevail?" May 25, 2008

"Will Love Prevail?" 4 stars Victoria Bennett is independent, educated, and professional. She also has baggage. A.J. loves her, baggage and all. She refuses to love him. Will she give in? A.J. is a doctor who adopted twin girls. That alone pulled on my heartstrings. On the other hand, he is brazen, arrogant, and bossy. I had a love-hate relationship with him. Taylor-Jones writes of African-American characters. She made Victoria real and A.J. a bit over-the-top. A.J. has the chiseled body that probably only exists in books and dreams. Victoria is a size 14. Note that all the men in the book thought that she was hot. I was so glad to not have to read about another size 2 stick figure. Taylor-Jones' coffee-fueled nights created a great story. Read and recommend to your friends. I look forward to more of her books.
When a man loves a woman May 19, 2008 This was an excellent and well written book. It had very few (if any typo errors) and it flowed and kept my interest from page one. I passed it on to someone else who was also very impressed and willingly recommended it to someone else. A very worthy buy.
When A Man Loves A Woman May 16, 2008 This is LaConnie Taylor-Jones second novel. I enjoyed her first novel so much; I could hardly wait for Victoria's And A.J.'s story. Although, Victoria is wisecracking and feisty no one knows of the pain she carries. A.J. makes it his business to find out. How, I love these Baptiste men. They are loyal, loving, and tenacious. I can hardly wait for Ms. LaConnie Taylor-Jones next novel.
His Brother and Her Best Friend April 30, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
LaConnie Taylor-Jones does it again. In her second release, When A Man Loves A Woman, the author continues to draw readers into the lives of the Baptiste men and their women. This time the story centers on Victoria Bennett, Caitlyn's best friend who is sour on love, and A.J. Baptiste, Marcel's younger brother. Will the pain from Victoria's past stop her from accepting the love A.J. Baptiste is ready, willing and able to give her?
I enjoyed the many layers of Victoria. Although she is quite educated and has reached the top of her game as a nursing administrator, what is important to her is having a heart for people; she genuinely cares about others. She exudes confidence at times and vulnerability at others. Her character is very believable. What I liked about A.J. Baptiste is the fact that despite his family wealth, he is still willing to work and give back to his community. He could probably have any woman he wants, but he is pursuing one woman, only. I was happy to see Victoria finally considering giving A.J. a chance. The story flowed well for me and while it is categorized a romance, the plot still offers a dramatic subplot that is sure to arouse reader suspense.
This book does stand alone for readers who have not yet read When I'm With You, the author's first novel; nonetheless, I was glad to be brought up to date with the courtship turned marriage between Caitlyn and Marcel Baptiste. I'm looking forward to more from this author.
