Can't wait to get another J.P.'s book! July 25, 2008 I simply love this book!, it's hard to put it down once you start reading. I'm almost ready to start with "The frog prince", thank you Ms.Porter!!!!
Great! Will get you thinking! July 11, 2008 Jane Porter's writing has a way of putting you right inside the head of the main character. Brutally honest, sometimes laugh out loud funny, she gets you thinking about the choices we make in life and where they lead us. Fun stuff about surfing, lots of local Oahu scenery. Great book!
Great Insights July 4, 2008 FLIRTING WITH FORTY should be a light, fluffy story -- but it's not.
It turns out to be a book of great insight.
When the heroine leaves her husband, their divorce impacts every relationship she has within their long-set social circle. Fairly or not, her friends are judgmental.
And, when she takes a much younger lover, they all but attempt an intervention. Collectively, they feel that her "inappropriate" behavior is of more concern to them as third parties than her happiness would be.
Predictably, then, the heroine becomes conflicted about this new relationship. Author Jane Porter does an excellent job of exploring her emotional journey.
FLIRTY WITH FORTY is not an insubstantial romance novel. It's a serious novel about a romance.
Chick Lit But A Little Deeper June 19, 2008 This was really great book. It was kind of chick lit but deeper and dealing with more issues. It's very eye opening to the aftermath of divorce and what is does to woman. Also it really tackles the subject of how sometimes women "lose themselves" to becoming a wife, mother, friend, that they lose much of the essence of what makes them unique.
I liked Jacky's character because I related to her "thinking too much" and rediscovering that sweetness that comes with meeting someone new. It isn't a Hollywood happily ever after story...there is a lot of stuff to deal with. Much like life.
Great beach read! June 12, 2008 I am a big fan of Jane Porter! This is such a fun book with great characters (it's even being made into a Lifetime movie this Decemeber). What I really loved was the ending didn't turn out the way I expected! There's nothing worse than reading a book that is so predictable. That is something you will not find here!
