Product Description After a tumultuous courtship, John and Julia Brighton have a second chance at happiness! With tragedy behind them and their children grown, they're looking forward to a new and promising era in their lives. Only, such a promise is never guaranteed. And life can change in a moment. The Brightons' lives are turned upside down when John's daughter Jana abandons her husband, Mark, and three-year-old daughter. John and Julia reach out to young Ellie, to give the young couple time to heal, but how can they help this child, so confused and longing for Mommy? And how much sorrow and stress can both fledgling marriages endure? Two very different couples, each with only their love and faith to guide them, can only pray that it will be enough.

Second in Series January 1, 2008 We met John and Julia Brighton in A Vow To Cherish. Now they are starting their married life. Their children are grown, the nest is empty, and they have earned the right to just enjoy each other. Then Jana, John's daughter, runs away from her husband, Mark, and their young daughter, Ellie. Mark suspects she's sucidal. John and Julia take Ellie, to live with them. They want to help, of course, but worry over Jana and coping with a rowdy toddler, puts a strain on their marriage. Deborah Raney knows just how to get inside her characters, turning them into living, breathing people, the reader will love. Fans of Deborah Raney won't want to miss this one.
A story that will live on in your memory December 26, 2007 Within This Circle is the long-awaited sequel to A Vow to Cherish. The storyline, although not at all what I thought it would be, was wonderful. She's the consummate storyteller and has never written one I didn't love. Somehow, she always avoids the expected, the cliched. I was totally caught up in the lives of these people and had to know what happened. I started reading about 9:30 PM Christmas night and forgot about time completely until I turned the last page--somewhere after 2:00 AM.
But then, a Deborah Raney book is like that. She always tackles tough subjects and Within This Circle is no different. Her characters possess multi-layered personalities with good and bad traits. And they live on in your memory long after you've finished the book. As a reviewer, I read 2-3 books a week. After a while, the stories tend to run together, except for the books of a handful of authors. And Raney tops that list.
If you want a great read, I highly recommend Within This Circle.

Within this Circle - completes the tale?? December 12, 2007 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
John Brighton and Julia finally are together as husband and wife. It's a neat to thing to read about the life they are building together, after all they perservered during A VOW TO CHERISH. God was faithful. The kids are grown, so it's just the two of them getting used to thier new life. And, then, in another life tipping event, John's daughter, Jana leaves her family. Suddenly, John and Julia are called on to help with thier three year old granddaughter, Ellie, and thier son in law Mark. But, they are newlyweds and still in the fresh stage where they don't completley know each other, let alone know enough to raise thier grandchild. But they have to. In the meantime, Mark struggles with raising his daughter and answering her innocent questions, of where her mommy is and why she left them. And, too, his feelings towards his wife - how could she just up and leave him? Leave thier child?? Is family love, loyalty and more important, thier faith strong enough to carry both families through this season of crisis???
Deb Raney sweeps us away in a story of love, betrayal, confusion, strength, faith and integrity. Of course I loved every single page. She is a master story teller and makes characters touch our hearts long after the book is done.
