Product Description In 1978, Jerry Boykin joined what would become the world's premier Special Operations unit, Delta Force. The only promise: "A medal and a body bag." What followed was a .50 caliber round in the chest and a life spent with America's elite forces bringing down warlords and war criminals, despots, and dictators. In Colombia, his task force hunted the notorious drug lord Pablo Escobar. In Panama, he helped capture the brutal dictator Manuel Noriega, liberating a nation. From Vietnam to Iran to Mogadishu, Lt. General Jerry Boykin's life reads like an action-adventure novel. Boykin's powerful story will keep you riveted as he reveals how his military duty worked in tandem with his faith to bring him through the bloody storms of foreign battle-and through the political firestorm that ambushed him in his own country.

To me this was a very fast paced and exciting book that talked about much about Military History that I had lived through-it was very informative to get General Boykin's perspective and his experiences. Personally, I could not put it down, I read it in about 4 days. Bravo General-Great Book!!
Perfect Combination for a "Perfect Storm" Book September 3, 2008 The fascinating life of LTG (Ret.) William G. Boykin and the seasoned pen of veteran writer Lynn Vincent have combined to create a page-turning story of courage and faith, humility and honor. It is a book that made me laugh, brought tears to my eyes, and more than once caused me to consider jumping on a soapbox to wave a flag and shout "God bless America!" We need more stories like this one--exposing the truth without political bias while encouraging us as Americans, and even more importantly as Christians, to take a stand for what is good and right and honorable. LTG Boykin is a role model of whom our nation can be proud!
Proves devine intervention at its best. August 29, 2008 0 out of 2 found this review helpful
SO not to give the books plot away like my fellow reviewers suffice to say this book is great. General Boykin is an American hero and a great Christian. He admits his faults and when his faith was at its lowest. But with faith and prayer many great things and soldiers lives were saved. Read this book and see for yourself.
Never Surrender August 26, 2008 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
I read this book on two sit downs. The book made me cry while the next page made me laugh. My total respect to LtGen Boykin for the bravery he has shown for our Nation's freedom. More importantly, in the worst of times, he never wavered from God for his support and assurance. Shame on those who can not see past their feet - this is pointed at our liberal media who vehemently tried to crucify him. Give the guy a break!
Real Page Turner August 22, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
Outstanding book - it is a real page turner. Paragraphs are short with great stories. The guy is a real hero serving in the key places at the key times in recent history. Great behind the scenes look by a guy who "has been there." I almost read it in one sitting. Can't recommend it more - it is the best book I've read in the past couple of years.
