Book Description Are all Lawyers Liars? Of course not! But some lawyers are, and others who are not lawyers use that charge to sell the unsuspecting public asset protection structures or strategies that are outright lies. Until now, no other professional has been willing to call out the frauds and cheats in this powerful industry where self-professed experts and do-it-yourself hacks wreak havoc on the innocent just wanting to protect their assets. Mark Kohler exposes the liars and tells us the truth! In Lawyers are Liars, Mark explains the strategies that actually work to protect our assets and uses more than 270 footnotes to do it, quoting and referencing the true experts around the country. Undoubtedly, this book will become a desktop resource for not only the average middle income American wanting to protect his or her assets, but attorneys, estate planners and financial professionals guiding their clients through this complex area of the law.

Very basic, too verbiose, USA-only view August 26, 2008
Based on previous reviews I expected more. After reading many (most?) of the books on asset protection (AP), I haven't learned much here, simply confirmed some issues. One star off .. This book would be fine for someone who doesn't know much about AP. The book could have been shrunk to about 80-100 pages, too much fluff, the first 30 pages are just a critique (of other lawyers) and sizzle (I will show you this and that). Another star off... Plus, for Britts and Aussies, the book only looks at AP from USA legal perspective, instead from international viewpoint. That is another star off ... Conclusion: Waste of money. Leave this one on the shelves!
Great Book! but.... July 4, 2008 Very useful book but too verbiose! If the author could be a bit more succinct, this book would be an all time 5 star!
He can say what he is saying with fewer words!
Finally answers to questions I had been searching for! February 22, 2008 It was so refreshing to read such honest, clear information about protecting my assets. Mark Kohler helped me not only understand what I needed to do, but also gave me the confidence that I could do it! I was one of those that got scared into buying a "Bullet proof Nevada Corp" from one of those seminar companies. It was only after I spent thousands of dollars did I realize that I had wasted all my money. That event made me fearful to do anything again, especially with another "lying attorney!"
Thank you Mark for restoring my faith knowing that there is at least ONE honest attorney and also restoring faith in my ability to protect my assets for my children.

Lawyers should learn from other Lawyers February 3, 2008 I am a higher education lawyer who has learned this the hard way: Lawyers should never be afraid to say what they do NOT know, and they should not be ashamed to learn from other lawyers. Even though I know a lot about risk management in the post-secondary world, I knew less than a lot about asset protection itself - until I read Mark's book. Other lawyers would do well to get off their professional high-horse (driven by secret professional and sometimes personal insecurity), get past the (yes, too numerous) typos and grammatical errors, and the (yes, too gratuitous) title of this book...and learn some great things for their clients and for themselves.
A Starting Point & Eye Opener for Asset Protection January 30, 2008 I thought the book provided a wonderful asset protection review for any consumer. The beauty of the book, in my mind, is its ability to simplify complex topics in a manner that is reader friendly - i.e. it keeps a reader engaged, whereas other legal reads often create an instant disconnect with the non-legal community. I look forward to the next book on tax strategies and I compliment the author in leading a campaign to educate consumers on prevalent scams.
