Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
YES! This must-have toddler title sheds light on some concepts with a comical flair.

Yanking cat by tail: no NO. Gentle pat on back: yes YES. And it’s funny how dumping a bowl of food gets a very different reaction from mastering the use of a spoon. An expressive baby demonstrates familiar behaviors — and their predictable responses — in an amusing board book that merits a giant YES!

Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars ettiquette for toddlers   May 25, 2008
like one other reviewer said the patricelli books are like "miss manners" for toddlers. my daughter (19 months) stares very intently at all the pictures as we go through the book. we always elaborate a bit on what the child is doing in each picture

5 out of 5 stars Yes! Yes! You MUST buy this book!   May 20, 2008

This adorable and funny board book could be called baby's first Emily Post guide! It's not to be missed.

Moms, Aunties and Big Cousins of every age will probably die laughing "discussing" the "No No's" followed by an equally charming "Yes Yes." There's hilarous illustrations of food spilling, wall-writing, nose-picking, tail-pulling, hair-cutting, paper-ripping and more followed directly after by the correct mode of behavior as contrast!

I give this book five big Yes! stars!

3 out of 5 stars Cute, but not as good as the others in the series   May 5, 2008
The other books in the series by this author are really cute, but this one lacks. Seems like it was rushed through the editor and sent out to market. There isn't enough explaination on each page of what is a no no or a yes yes. Like the yummy yucky book, says "mommy's cookies are yummy, but mommy's coffee is yucky." It needs a little more of that. Cute illustrations as usual though.

5 out of 5 stars Great for toddlers   March 19, 2008

My 14 month old loves this book. She does all of the things the baby in the book does (minus the scissors, but she would of she could). She looks at the pictures on the no no and then the yes yes page with a very studious expression. I can only imagine what she is thinking!
The illustrations are great for pointing, labeling, and discussing.
The book is obviously geared towards toddlers, but its simplicity lends itself well to teaching preschool children, especially children with special needs, social expectations.

5 out of 5 stars Bright, funny, perfect   March 17, 2008

All of Leslie Patricelli's board books are primers on how to behave. Call them required reading for "Toddler 101." No No Yes Yes is no exception.

The baby that appears on every page has a big happy face, a single curl and wears only a diaper. It doesn't matter if it's a boy or a girl. On each page the baby is doing an activity. On the left side it's a No, No activity like eating dog food or putting toys in the toilet, on the right side it's a corresponding Yes, Yes activity like eating a banana or using the potty for its intended use. It's a very clear message to young kids on what to do and what not to do.

Kids and parents alike will enjoy the humor. The cat's face and RROWR above its head when baby pulls its tail are perfect. On the page where baby marks on the walls, notice the sleeping dog also has purple and red marks on his fur, and baby's belly has a purple mark, too.

With painted acrylic artwork, bold black outlines and colorful backgrounds, the simple presentation is perfect for its audience.

The other board books in the Patricelli canon are Baby Happy Baby Sad, Big Little, Binky, Blankie, Dummy, Quiet Loud and Yummy Yucky.
