Product Description Annie Parker came to Silver Mesa, Arizona, because it was the only place she'd found where folks thought a woman doctor was better than no doctor at all. Her lonely life became harder still on the winter night Rafe McCay broke into her office with a bullet in his side and a bounty hunter at his back. With a gun aimed at her heart, he led her deep into the Arizona mountains, and into a world of danger and passion, for Annie discovered in Rafe not only a wounded man, but a soul betrayed...and Rafe, healed by her skill and the magic in her hands, awakened in Annie a woman's tender longing and hungry desire. Pursued by dangerous secrets of the past, they are swept into a thrilling odyssey of the heart -- a bold, exhilarating journey that rekindles Rafe's lost hope and transforms Annie's healing gift into a deep, enduring love.

Touch of fire May 12, 2008 I really enjoy Linda Howard (discovered her by accident). I thought that her characters in this novel were compelling. I had a hard time putting it down and found that just couldn't stop reading it. I have read EVERY book now by Linda and this is one of my favorites
Hated it! February 14, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I found the book ponderous and unfocussed. Too much of everything but romance. I liked the characters, but not the situations. Also, the first time they "made love" read very close to a rape scene. Not my cup of tea.
Touch of Fire January 7, 2008 I've never read a Linda Howard book I didn't like and this one was no exception. A historical romance with a twist. I'll keep it in my library to read again.
Enjoyable western. January 5, 2008 Most of it was a nice story but the ending was excellent, very satisfying.
CAUTION SPOILER: I loved the development of the relationship between Atwater and Rafe at the end. I also loved JP Morgan's involvement and Atwater's actions. Sexual language: moderate. Number of sex scenes: eleven. Setting: 1871 Arizona. Copyright: 1992. Genre: historical western romance.
Wonderful story full of confiderate history October 22, 2007 I love Linda Howard. This book had the alpha guy a bit rougher than her usual guys in her other books, but I still enjoyed it. I like that the story had a bit of civil war history and such details as how everyone who knew how to use a gun, seem to know locations of veins, organs, etc.
