Amazon.com Review
Linda Howard's new romantic thriller, her hardcover debut, brings psychic phenomena, hot sex, and deadly danger into the life of an appealing young artist. Paris Sweeney, who calls herself Sweeney, is living a pared-down existence devoted to painting when she begins to see ghosts. Worse, she starts painting disturbing images while sleepwalking, then wakes with an unnatural, bone-deep chill that can only be dispelled by direct body contact with the unexpected new man in her life--Richard Worth, the soon-to-be ex-husband of the gallery owner who sells Sweeney's work. Then Sweeney realizes she's painting the picture of a murder victim, just before the actual crime takes place. Can she stop the killing before it happens? And if not, is she destined to become either the prime suspect or the murderer's next victim? Howard keeps the suspense streamlined and straightforward, focusing equally on the relationship between the sympathetic Sweeney, whose dreadful growing-up years forced her to become more independent than is good for her, and Richard, whose drive to leave his old life behind matches his determination to make Sweeney part of his future. A sensual, page-turning diversion that's sure to win the author new fans.

Product Description

From Dream Man to Kill and Tell, Linda Howard's New York Times bestsellers are a tantalizing blend of scintillating sensuality and high-voltage thrills. "Linda Howard meshes hot sex, emotional impact and gripping tension in this perfect example of what romantic suspense ought to be," raved Publishers Weekly in their starred review of Kill and Tell. Now, with a wonderful new pageturner, this daringly original storyteller makes her smashing hardcover debut.

A talented landscape painter and portrait artist in her early thirties, Paris Sweeney has achieved enviable success: her work sells at an exclusive New York City gallery owned by her friend, Candra Worth, and her popularity is at an all-time high. Sweeney, as she is affectionately called by those close to her, loves her work and is content with her life.

Then she begins to notice odd changes: traffic lights turn green when she approaches. Her plants are in full bloom out of season. Perhaps they're jist coincidences, but she can't ignore her dreams -- lush, vivid, and drenched in vibrant hues -- which are influencing her artwork. And she can't deny her growing restlessness....Suddenly, impulsively, Sweeney finds herself unable to resist a night of intense passion with millionaire Richard Worth, Candra's estranged husband. But the true dangers of her all-consuming urges are about to

be revealed where Sweeney least expects it: in her paintings.

After a creative frenzy she can barely recall, Sweeney discovers she has rendered a disturbing image -- a graphic murder scene. Against her better instincts, she returns to the canvas time and again, filling out each chilling detail piece by piece -- a shoe, the body of a victim, and soon, the victim's face. But when a shattering, real-life murder mirrors her creation, Sweeney is thrust into suspicious light. Now, with every stroke of her brush, she risks incriminating herself with her inexplicable knowledge of a deadly crime. And every desire -- including her hungry attraction to Richard -- is loaded with uncertainty and terrifying discovery as Sweeney races to unmask a killer.

With the breathless excitement that distinguishes all of her blockbusters of romantic suspense, Linda Howard grips the imagination and touches the heart as only she can in Now You See Her.

3 out of 5 stars mediocre romance, non-existent mystery   June 15, 2008
I've read books of Howard that I loved (White lies, Dream man, Son of the morning) but this is not one of them. The only thing that kept me reading it, was wether they would be able to save Richard's wife or not (the vilain was obvious from the start). But the main problem for me was that I couldn't connect with the characters and especially the heroine; Richard seemed rather promising (but was never fully portraited, more like scetched) and deserved better. As his ex-wife said at some point: "What does he see in her?". That was exactly what I thought. Besides her hot body, curly hair, and her knack for honesty, I didn't see anything remarkable about her that could make such a powerful, independant, strong man fall in love with her within a couple of days. Too whinny, a clinger and naive bordering on stupidity (especially in the scene where Kai visits her apartment and she does an almost unforgivable "mistake"). Nice for a beach read but not a keeper.

4 out of 5 stars "Killer Dreams~ Paint me a KILLER~..very good~ Linda Howard Gem~   May 3, 2008

PLOT: ARTIST Sweeney paints in her sleep and awakens to scenes of death ...Each new painting is a death scene and she is one step closer to "painting the face" of the killer. Now the Killer has to STOP Sweeney from "finishing her paintings~ paranormal thriller~ better than you think~

Gifted Artist Sweeny has a secret she 'PAINTS IN HER SLEEP" ..they are scenes of death. suddenly the paints are being reality and she is one step closer to "painting " the killers face in the next painting~ along the way Sweeney attracts the attention of Wealthy Richard Worth...MEGA HUNK. Sweeney is not going to be involved with any man~especially one going through an UGLY divorce~.... but Worth is persistant along with each painting episode Sweeney looses body temperature as part of the "episode" suddenly Richard Worth shows up and the HEAT is on! LOL he suddenly becomes Sweeneys new BLANKET "warms" up the freezing Sweeney ...sexy AND fun~ Added is Richards SOON TO BE ex WIFE Kendra~ the MOST FUN 'WITCH/ slut" we have seen in a while~ soon there is a trail of bodies and the sleep painting "episodes" have the killer closing in on Sweeney to finish her before she can finish one last "revealing" painting~ not for everyone but a PARANORMAL FUN ROMANCE I GIVE A SOLID 7 OUT OF 10 FOR ROMANCE, SUSPENSE AND CLEVER PARANORMAL TWIST ADDED.

FOR MORE Linda Howard fun also try After the Night, Mr. Perfect and Open Season~

4 out of 5 stars Enjoyable but not author's best.   January 4, 2008

This was an enjoyable book, but I wasn't as emotionally invested as I've been with some of her other books. It kept my interest, but it was easy to put down when I needed to go to bed or do other things. It is about an artist who paints psychic visons and a businessman in process of getting a divorce. They fall for each other immediately. She has visions of a couple of murders. It was a pretty good read, but not her best. Sexual content: moderate. Setting: current day in U.S. Copyright: 1998. Genre: contemporary romantic suspense.

5 out of 5 stars Now You See Her   July 12, 2007
Really enjoyed this book. Characters are interesting and the heroine is very strong and likeable. This is my second time purchasing this novel. My first novel was borrowed so many times I had to get another one. Ms. Howard never fails to deliver.

5 out of 5 stars So far Ms Howard's best work   March 6, 2007

I'm surprised with the negative reviews. I couldn't put this book down and read this within 2 days (as I started this on a Monday evening and other responsibliites, such work, sleep, kids, etc.). While reading, I kept thinking about the movie, 'The Sixth Sense' which is not at all related except for the paranormal aspect of the novel. I loved the movie and loved this book. I did figure out who was the murder when it happen which was near the end of the novel but this isn't a 'Who Donit' book. I enjoy the relationship between the heros and all the secondary characters. This is now my favorite by Ms. Howard. So far, I've read 'Open Season', 'McKenzie Mission', 'After the Night' and they have all been excellent. I love Ms. Howard's Alpha guys!!!
