Customer Reviews:
A wonderful account of life in Panama in the early days. August 15, 2008 I grew up in Panama - born in 1935. This wonderful book takes me back to the early days, 40 years before I arrived, when Panama was still a very rough place for anyone from the outside to live in, with the mosquitos and their terrible toll they were taking on the residents of this country, a new frontier hacked out of the jungle. This author brings the tough living conditions into real life. His descriptions of his experiences are fantastic. His description of the boat ride from the U.S. to Panama is worth the reading of the book. I almost felt like I was there with him. Great book! I am lucky to have found it.
