Product Description
"Dana is my life force."

--Christopher Reeve

"A terrible thing happened. I wish it hadn't. But would I change who I married? Never."

--Dana Reeve

He was a hero in every sense of the word--the chiseled-from-granite star of four blockbuster Superman films and the romantic classic Somewhere in Time who, after being paralyzed in a freak horseback riding accident, became a symbol of hope for millions. Dana Reeve was no less heroic, standing steadfastly by her husband's side until his surprisingly sudden and unexpected death at age fifty-two. When Dana, a non-smoker, passed away from lung cancer just seventeen months after Chris's death, she left behind their thirteen-year-old son, Will, to be raised by friends and family. Dana was only forty-four years old.

That fate could have dealt such a cruel hand to this golden couple seemed unfathomable. That they could endure it all with grace, courage, and humor defied belief.

Yet for all the millions of words that have been written about their public causes and private struggles following Chris's accident, little is known about the lives they led as passionate young lovers. Now, in the manner of his poignant-yet-stirring bestsellers Jack and Jackie, Jackie After Jack, An Affair to Remember, The Day Diana Died, After Diana, and The Day John Died, No. l New York Times bestselling author Christopher Andersen draws on those who knew them best to examine in touching detail the Reeves' unique partnership and the romance, faith, and fortitude that defined it.

Sometimes heartbreaking, often uplifting, always compelling, Somewhere in Heaven is more than just a portrait of a marriage. It is the profoundly human story of two souls whose brief lives made a difference, a bittersweet saga of tragedy, triumph, and loss, and--above all else--a love story for the ages.

5 out of 5 stars Any library strong in film or biography will find this a compelling, moving lend   October 7, 2008
The love between actor Christopher Reeve and his wife Dana finally reaches book form with SOMEWHERE IN HEAVEN, a striking story of the actor who produced four blockbuster Superman films and the romantic movie Somewhere In Time, who was paralyzed in a freak horseback-riding accident. For many life would end there; but Christopher Reeves became a 'poster man' for paralytics world-wide, and his heroic wife stayed by his side until his sudden death at age fifty-two. Seventeen months later she would be dead from lung cancer. Any library strong in film or biography will find this a compelling, moving lend.

4 out of 5 stars Nice Love Story   October 3, 2008
As my husband is disabled and in a wheelchair also very early in life, he was 42, I enjoyed reading this love story of how two people were determined to make their marriage work through "Sickness and in Health". We have now been married 35 years. It can be done. When you say your wedding vows, and if you really mean them, you will stick it out through the rough times in life. This book was nearly a mirror image of what I am going through now. A must read for all married couples and couples soon to be married.

5 out of 5 stars excellent reading, can't put it down   September 30, 2008
This is a most excellent story and wonderfully written. They were a great couple.

4 out of 5 stars Sweet Love Story   September 13, 2008
This book was a very sweet love story and true depictiin of "till death do us part." The beginning of the book was a little slow for me but maybe that is because I am not currently in a relationship and I might be a little jealous (ha ha). The book shows how dedicated Dana was and how much she loved Chris. I question myself if I would have done everything Dana did for Chris and I think most people after reading this book would question themselves as well. The book was also very specific as it pertains to the medical trials and tribulations that the Reeve family went through after Chris' accident. I would recommend reading this book. It was a very quick read and I am glad that I finally know exactly what happened after Chris' accident and before Dana's unfortunate passing due to lung cancer.
