Product Description
Mackenzie Allen Philips' youngest daughter, Missy, has been abducted during a family vacation and evidence that she may have been brutally murdered is found in an abandoned shack deep in the Oregon wilderness. Four years later in the midst of his Great Sadness, Mack receives a suspicious note, apparently from God, inviting him back to that shack for a weekend. Against his better judgment he arrives at the shack on a wintry afternoon and walks back into his darkest nightmare. What he finds there will change Mack's world forever. In a world where religion seems to grow increasingly irrelevant "The Shack" wrestles with the timeless question, "Where is God in a world so filled with unspeakable pain?" The answers Mack gets will astound you and perhaps transform you as much as it did him. You'll want everyone you know to read this book!

5 out of 5 stars AMAZING   July 24, 2008
Honestly, this book is not just a good read, it's a life changing experience. William Young takes a story he wrote for his children and creates a story for the ages. Anyone who has the time should read this book. Anyone who doesn't have the time should make the time! Christian or not, this book will have you looking at God and at life in a whole new light!

5 out of 5 stars Very Moving   July 24, 2008
There has been allot of controversy about this book so I decided I would read it and see what all the hipe is about. I couldn't put it down. I felt it was one of the best books I've read in a long time. I was blessed and actually sensed the presence of God while reading it.

5 out of 5 stars My Review   July 24, 2008
I am a Christian and thorougly enjoyed this book. I listen to God often through prayer, study, conversation and this book came to me at the right time and in the right place in my life. It does not take away from Scripture and never claims to change the way we believe as Christians. It is one man's story and his encounter with God.

For me, the characters in the book did not replace or change my beliefs and understanding of Christ, the Holy Spirit and the Father. In many ways it confirmed the relationship I have which is a growing one. And helped me to relax more and let God take over.

As a Christian, I have faith that God will let me know clearly when I should or should not read a book and I just couldn't wait to get to the end of this story. Its touching, heart felt, and speaks from a love for God and a desire to grow in his relationship with Christ.

I believe the story to be true and without any intentions of speaking out against God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit. To have had that kind of experience and to then share it with others is truly wonderful as now he will deal with so much skepticism and criticism. But he will also have led many people to Christ. They may come with false understandings because so many interpretations can be made, but they will come, and when they do, God will speak to them and I am sure he will say: "I am especially fond of you" to everyone of his lost children.

I encourage every one to read it,and to let God lead you through out the reading to seek him with all your heart. It would be wrong for anyone to read this and say "This is it, this is all I need" and I don't think this book was written to replace the bible, nor the relationship. The bible is the place where we should land. This book just helps people that are unsure, get that much closer to an understanding its importance.

Definitely a must read. It touched my heart in so many ways, and I know it will touch the hearts of others. Thank you for taking the time write it!.

5 out of 5 stars God loves the individual   July 24, 2008

I love the book. My view of it is that God will do anything or appear in any way to tell us He Love us. This was the only way He could start to communicate with Mack. Awesome. Forget correct theology and catch the Love God has for each one of us.

5 out of 5 stars Best story I have run into   July 23, 2008

The book introduced me to an image of God no one had ever talked to me about before. It made more sense to my heart then all the higher theology I have ever been exposed to. Had to get the audio so I can listen while driving, as I am sure the police frown on reading while driving.
