Amazon.com Author and physician Brian Weiss first delved into the realm of past-life therapy in his highly successful and controversial book Many Lives, Many Masters. Although he has since developed a huge following in the field of "regression therapy" (in which clients are hypnotized in order to access previous lifetimes), Weiss has focused this latest book on the here and now. "Past lives are still a significant concept and value for me, but understanding and expressing love, joy, and inner peace in my everyday life have become more significant," Weiss explains. Weiss, who is now an internationally sought-after lecturer, uses his teaching voice to address happiness and love in our current lifetimes. This is indeed a "how-to" book, packed with ambitious discussions on why we choose to "come back" to our current lives and the role of fate. He also devotes many chapters to spiritual self-help, showing readers why it's important to let go of anger, develop a loving spiritual family, and cultivate love and compassion. No, these are not new or original concepts. But those who liked the past-life visions and riveting anecdotes in Many Lives, Many Masters will find themselves equally riveted. --Gail Hudson
Product Description The true story of a prominent psychiatrist, his young patient, and the past-life therapy that changed both their lives.
As a traditional psychotherapist, Dr. Brian Weiss was astonished and skeptical when one of his patients began recalling past-life traumas that seemed to hold the key to her recurring nightmares and anxiety attacks. His skepticism was eroded, however, when she began to channel messages from the "space between lives," which contained remarkable revelations about Dr. Weiss' family and his dead son. Using past-life therapy, he was able to cure the patient and embark on a new, more meaningful phase of his own career.

The true nature of the soul November 11, 2007 14 out of 15 found this review helpful
Ever since "May Lives Many Masters", I have read each one of Brian Weiss's books. This one focuses much more on the "why" rather than the "how" o past lives. Weiss explains in simple terms, the concept of karma, and the need for souls to repeatedly come back on earth in human form to further their understanding of love and compassion. As usual, Weiss uses real examples from his case files and is able to convey important messages from "spirit guides" (the masters) about reincarnation, relationships, destiny, peace, fulfilment, immortality, and the true nature of the soul. A wonderful book.
Useful book June 24, 2007 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
I read this book many years ago. Rereading this book again was because I would like to introduce Buddhism to some friends who were searching the meaning of life without much knowledge of reincarnation.
This book strengthened my belief of the concept of past/present/future life which I was all familiar growing up in Asia. It explains some of the rules of how reincarnation works and how we can benefit from the way life is. I agree with some of the reviewers' points that Dr. Brian Weiss showed certain degree of ego and thought that would convince more people to buy his theory. The method may not be humble enough, but the messages are valuable, especially for those who had no previous experience of hearing about reincarnation, for it was written in a very friendly way.
I would suggest if you are interested in spiritual growth, after this book to look for information of Buddha's teaching. To become truly in peace within oneself, the ego must be given up and focus on what we are here to do. And it is one of the basic teachings of Buddhism. Reincarnation is just how life is, like we are born, we grow and we die, and the wisdom is what we are here to learn. I hope we will find more truth and eventually achieve peace in Buddha's graceful and humble teaching.
