This well-written, extremely readable book is one of today's best looks at the intersection of sexuality and spirituality. Writing with an holistic approach to mature personhood, popular author Rob Bells guides us to deeper understandings of the nature of growing, changing, and becoming adults.
Especially encouraging for singles, the book points us beyond today's sex-obsessed media-driven culture toward a Kingdom that endures forever. With that Kingdom in view, our perspective on intimacy changes.
Thought-provoking, inspiring --- and at times troubling (useful for generating further thought and reflection) this book is a must-read for today's single adults --- and useful for all.

Lets make sure you are not missing out on life: If you havent heard of Rob Bell, his magnetic, contemporary "christian" messages, his video and his book, you are missing one of the brightest "christian" minds the American culture has to offer. If you have teenagers and have not read this and bought them a couple, again you are missing a great opportunity to reveal to your kids that you are capable of "getting it". Although Rob tends to get a little heavy, if you hang in there, he will deliver and enlighten. His perspective of the modern "christian" lanscape is truly top down as well as over the horizon. One of the best reads recently.

I am intrigued and inspired by the connection between the sacred and the sexual, belieiving that the two are intricately connected and when one separates the two, as has been done in our culture, sexuality loses its intended meaning and purpose.
I purchased this book because of the stellar reviews and because the title spoke to my heart. However, the book was not was I expected. It was not full of philosophical, new age-like dissertations on achieving nirvana. It never did speak of sex in any detail nor did it exbound on anything sexually explicit, relating it to divine nature. But, surprsingly, this book was equally fascinating. Rob Bell speaks to the reader like one of his friends, in a very casual and easy to understand fashion. The book is broken into several small, easily digestible subsections which makes reading it almost effortless. And I was particularly impressed with the solid Christian values, Bibilical foundations and the overall message given, which was basically "marriage is a sacred, santcified and revered covenant." Instead of being blatantly about sexuality, Bell uses this book to show the intent, power and beauty of the marital bond and I found it to be very inspiring.
I wish there were about 3 more volumes of this book! When I finished it, I wasnted to read more.

After I got past the provocative book title and chapter titles I found this book incredibly powerful. We read it for a book club we have at my church and the consensus was that it was excellent.
Its not a book you can rush through. I found myself pausing, crying, absorbing. I plan to read it a second time very soon. It most fundamentally validates our humanity, our need, and God's hope to heal and bring what we need and desire most--connection.
It is really impossible to describe this book succinctly but I think you will be pleasantly surprised when you read it!
