Product Description From the author of As I Lay Frying - a Rehoboth Beach Memoir... now comes Fried & True - Tales from Rehoboth Beach. Following on the heels of the best-selling and riotous As I Lay Frying, Fay Jacobs gives you the inside story on life in the gay-friendly resort town of Rehoboth Beach, Delaware. This collection of her latest columns from the publication Letters from CAMP Rehoboth is sometimes provocative, sometimes political, often heartwarming and reliably hilarious. Her unique voice and willingness to bare it all in print turn readers into an extended family. In addition to her Letters commentaries, Fay takes you inside the remarkable lives of two Rehoboth Beach icons who helped her become, in her words, an accidental publisher. She shares her close friendship with author Sarah Aldridge (the pen name of writer/publisher Anyda Marchant) who wrote 14 classic novels and founded, with her partner Muriel Crawford, The Naiad Press. Naiad was the first and most successful feminist publishing house in the country in the 1970s and 80s and Fay's friendship with the founders will give readers a extraordinary glimpse of history. Jacobs' witty way of describing universal experiences and the travails life delivers will keep you smiling and relating page after page.

Buy this book! July 7, 2007 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
If you aren't a Rehoboth Beach resident who gets to read Fay's ongoing columns, or if you haven't read her first collection of comic essays, AS I LAY FRYING, then it's time to correct this error. Her most recent book, FRIED & TRUE, is very funny and very touching in unexpected ways. She has the sarcastic wit of the best political commentators, and little that has occurred in the past few years escapes her piercing pen. But her stories of a legendary lesbian couple, the doyennes of Rehoboth society, who she came to know and love, are beautifully moving, and you wil be glad you got to know them through Fay's eyes. If you've had the pleasure of meeting Fay and hearing her read her own work, you'll also be eager for the day when her works appear on CD; she's that funny. Meanwhile, go online and get your copy of this book. Perfect summer (or anytime) reading.
Honkin' Good! May 29, 2007 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
Apparently I've started to make honking noises when I laugh. At least that what my husband says, although I think they probably sound more like snorts. Something to do with my sinuses, I guess. Whatever the case, I was certainly noisy when I read "Fried and True."
It wasn't all a laugh riot, though. There were some touching moments, I "met" some amazing people, and I know where I wanna spend my Summer vacation. Don't miss this read!
