Customer Reviews:

1 out of 5 stars Total Waste of Money   September 30, 2008
I took a chance in spite of the review listed and purchased the book. Big mistake! I was a History major in college but didn't keep any of my books because my history professors never used them. I've been out of school for 7 years and needed to review before the history exam. I was excited to see the book because I thought it would give me just enough review to spark my memory and go along with the countless notes I still have from college. The book was so off I couldn't believe it was legal to even put the GACE name on it and call it an exam guide.
Case in point:
One of the test areas asks about the development of Chinese civilization specifically the Zhou and Quin dynasties. The book only references the Han dynasty! WHAT?
If you're looking for a quick review to aid you with some of the focal points on the GACE History exam that you learned in school but haven't thought about in 5-10 years look elsewhere.

1 out of 5 stars TERRIBLE BOOK   August 6, 2007
5 out of 5 found this review helpful

This book was awful. It contained numerous editing errors. The book also had plenty of times where a paragraph or two would be written in a section twice verbatim. The book also did not help me significantly review as it did not adequately cover the material the GACE section headings asked to be covered (In fact some of the practice questions in the back asked about the California Constitution (unrelated to the GACE as far as I can tell). I can only hope I passed based on my own actual knowledge. The book helped with maybe 10 questions over both test sections.
