Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars Mother Goose of Yesteryear   October 3, 2008
A good book to revel in nostalga. The victorian style illustrations set the atmosphere.
I've found this book a useful resource for the study of the eighteenth and nineteenth century era aswell as for rhyme and song. The opening chapters straightway excite the reader with the collection of early covers, early illustrations, extracts from newspapers and magazines, cards and postcards.
Rhyme then dominates the remaing pages, some unfamiliar verse, but most are the very same, sung and told for generations after.
A must to treasure for the young and young at heart.
