Editorial Reviews:

Album Description
Japanese pressing of Madonna's 2008 full-length album includes one bonus track, 'Ring My Bell'. Hard Candy is a brilliant uptempo collection that adds a hip-hop beat to the cultural icon's club sensibilities, thanks to collaborations with Timbaland, Justin Timberlake, Pharrell Williams, and Nate "Danja" Hills. Hard Candy punctuates the first 25 years of the album career of the most successful female artist in history with a musical exclamation point. 12 tracks..

5 out of 5 stars Synthy, poppy, groovy   October 2, 2008

People might think this is Madonna's attempt at a hip hop album because of '4 Minutes', but this CD offers a huge array of sound. The urban producers who Madonna brought in to make this project actually manupulated their sound toward her style, and it works great! There are a lot of hot beats and synths in this album, and Madonna always sings a fun melody. My favourite tracks are Give it 2 me, Miles Away, Heartbeat, Incredible, Beat Goes On, Dance 2night, Devil Wouldn't Recgonize you, and Voices... excellent work again Madonna!

4 out of 5 stars Not bad for a 50 year old.   October 2, 2008

Madonna's new cd is a combination of old and new sounds. My favorite songs on this cd are incredible and give it to me. I'm a die hard Madonna fan, but this cd isn't quite five star worthy.

5 out of 5 stars "Her voice is high and thin"?-GREAT !!   September 16, 2008

Her CD has not left my player for 6 months now and I cant' get enough of "Hard Candy". I adore it for one simple reason - Madonna's return to using her "high and thin" voice (as one reviewer described) has me reminiscing the early days when the Queen of Pop broke onto the scene with "Like A Virgin". I fell in love with that airy-girlish-playful voice ! Madonna's return to using "the voice" transports me away from all the stress & seriousness of daily living. If I want serious, great vocals, I'll listen to music by Whitney Houston or Joni Mitchell.
Simple , Sticky & Sweet is just what the world needs today !

Like the music. Can't stand to look at the Cover of the CD. What was she thinking. Have to hide CD cover from my kids. Yuck!

3 out of 5 stars What a shame..   September 11, 2008

..she didn't delete the woeful Spanish Lesson, the repulsive 4 minutes and the bitchy She's Not Me and put the brilliant outtake Ring My Bell on instead while expanding the remainder. Instead of being a leader, Madonna has become a follower. There's classic Madonna here no doubt about it but after the devilish brilliance of Confessions on A Dancefloor, Hard Candy is something of a disappointment. I think Madonna has stopped planning tracks for the ear and instead delivers what will sound great live as is evident with the crowpleaser Give It 2 Me. Since I'm down here in Australia, I guess I'll never enjoy the full impact of her master plan. Hope she shelves those 2 Timtwits for her next outing.
