Keep it hot May 3, 2008 I used to use the traditional grill grate that came with my Weber. But last summer I found this and never looked back. I especially like the way you can fold up each end and add more coals, without taking the entire grate out. I highly recommend. I keep my Weber outdoors all spring/summer/fall and the grates withstand our MD weather. I keep my grate clean with a "brillo" pad and some "simple green" grate cleaner from BBQ Galore.
Weber Hinged Cooking Grate August 31, 2007 Genuine Weber replacement part that was cheaper than what I would have paid at the local home improvement store (even with shipping charges).
Excellent build, inadequate design May 31, 2007 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This sturdy grate is designed to allow you to add charcoal during long cooking times. It's a great idea. However, Weber also makes a set of charcoal containers which are also great ideas. Unfortunately, these two ideas rather clash. The containers are too large to exit from the hinged "door" portion of the grate. This means you can set the Weber charcoal starter chimney on the grate comfortably, but then you need three hands to pour the hot coals from the starter into the containers, which are under the grate. With your third hand, you must lift up the entire grate in order to pour those hot coals into the containers. (Hint: buy the cover holder so you don't need four hands.)
It's too bad Weber didn't integrate all these accessories into a smoother system. Maybe they'll do it in future.
Grill grate May 20, 2007 Quality product.Heavy duty.I wanted the hinged corners to add charcoal or wood chips for indirect cooking. It was made for the Weber kettle but I put it on a Kingsford 22.5 inch grill. It's just a tad smaller than the original Kingsford grate but it works OK.
Weber replacement grate January 21, 2007 A very high quality grate. As good or better than the original.
