Simple design, great trap. When setting it you must do it with steady hands.

The cage worked very well. I just sprinkled a little bird seed around the cage and filled a little bird seed into a cup inside and so far we have gotten 24 little varmits ( chipmunks) who are living happily in another location !!

I ordered two, one works well, the other the sheet metal was cut wrong so it would not drop the trap door perfectly to capture the animal. I had to cut the gap a 1/4 inch more. Should not have had to do it myself.
Poor Company QC. Generally these traps are very reliable for squirrels and good for chipmunks (sometimes those buggers can get out if their real small or squirrels have previously pulled on your trap door wearing it out a little. I have caught > 200 squirrels and > 15 chipmunks in the past 7-10 years. They work very well, much better than the 2 door (at each end) model with a different trade name.

Living in the woods we had a real bad chipmunk problem. While they are fun to watch we found out just how destructive they can be when they chewed through wiring harnesses on our truck. Ordered two of these and started catching and relocating them right away. Carried them about a mile away to release them. Only problem is we also have lots of squirrels and raccoons so we would catch squirrels and would have to bring the traps in at night to keep the coons from fighting over the bait in them. I used peanut butter and put some sunflower seeds on that. Great product.

We have some stone walls (c. patio & driveway) at our mountain woodland home. Chipmunks were turning them into busy apartment complexes. We bought stones to plug up the holes, but first wanted to evict the tenants. We ordered one Havahart 0745 trap. The first day I put it out with a cracker and some peanut butter, I caught (and relocated) 5 chipmunks before dinner. This trap is all we could have hoped for.
