Great for the Chronically Time-crunched Intermediate-Advanced Workout Junkie September 8, 2008 First for some background: I have asthma, I'm 28 years old and I've had two kids... My usually workout regime consists of primarily yoga, pilates, core work plus a little variety (ie. Whatever I happen to be in the mood for). I've been doing everything from strength training to kickboxing and have been working out regularly for 9 years. My achilles heel (largely due to asthma) is my stamina and endurance. When I started this workout I couldn't run a block without having to take my inhaler. Going up and down the stairs used to wind me... especially when lugging laundry baskets up and down. I've done level one 7 times now and I'm probably going to be stuck on level one for quite awhile, but already I've been noticing impressive results. I am better able to keep up with my kids and now I only have trouble going up and down the stairs if I've just done this workout (Leg muscles get fatigued and shaky). Be forewarned: if you're anything like me your going to want a LOT of water after this one and you're going to need to sit down and take it easy for awhile afterwards. This workout is HARD, but definitely worth it! From my experience so far, this workout is a great way to get your cardio in. I have a hate/hate-more relationship with cardio. Usually I have to ease into cardio and workout up to what a normal person can do minus asthma. The layout of this workout works great for me because it works cardio in in short bursts but it manages to keep your heart rate up the entire time. I found it was extremely challenging but not impossible like most cardio sessions I've tried. The workout starts with a short but effective warm-up, then 3 circuits of 3 minutes strength, 2 minutes cardio, and 1 minute of AB work plus a cool down at the very end. I love this system! This is cardio that works for me. It's super effective and efficient... every muscle group gets worked in 20 minutes plus a bit if you count the intro, warm-up and cool-down. Great for the chronically time crunched such as myself. I probably would not recommend this workout for a beginner, but for anyone who has been working out for awhile and they find they are stuck in a rut... or perhaps they have that last bit of baby fat on their abs that just wont seem to budge... you should definitely take a second look at 30 day shred. If you have determination enough to stick to it, this is the workout that is going to get you results!
Great Workout DVD September 7, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I have used other workout DVDs, but love Jillian's work out because it lasts for 30 minutes and you see results. Sometimes there is not enough time in the day to try and squeeze in a workout and this makes it possible. I would recommend this for other people to use.

At one point Jillian says something like "I want you to feel like you are going to die." And I do. These workouts are great. Get this video and us it a lot.
One of the best in my workout library September 3, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Jillian has done it again. This is by far the best workout video I have. I really get a great workout and feel like I am accomplishing something. I got this to help shed the baby weight from my pregnancy and it has worked. It is not boring and I look forward to the workout.
Holy moley! September 3, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
After reading all of the 5 star reviews, I too found it necessary to purchase this DVD. I got it yesterday in the mail, and did the Level 1 workout this morning - 2 hours ago. It was definitely challenging. In fact, I didn't realize HOW challenging until now. I am already sore and feeling it, and that has never happened to me 2 hours after a workout - ever! Maybe the next morning, but never a couple hours.
The only reason I was not absolutely dying during the workout is because for the past 2 months I've been working out 4-5 times per week with Jackie Warner's "Workout" Video (from the TV show Workout), and doing some light jogging here and there. I must admit, I have gotten into very good shape doing that routine; my muscles are much stronger. Jackie's workouts are intense, but they are broken down into groups - 20 min lower body, 20 min abs, 20 min upper body. So if you wanted to do your whole body in one day, you'd have to do all 3 segments which would take an hour and would be way too intense, in my opinion. What I love about Jillian's workout is that she gives you it ALL in 20 mins.
It is true what everyone else says - the time FLIES BY! I never felt like any of the segments were too long, boring, anything like that. Including Jillian's several minutes of intro talking in the beginning (that you can't fast foward through) the whole workout was 27 minutes on my DVD clock. I can tell this workout is going to kick my butt!! Can't wait to try Levels 2/3. Oh, one other thing I noticed...this workout is filmed in the same studio as Jackie Warner's workout, so it was kinda funny for me to workout to the same set again! :)
