Editorial Reviews:

Album Description
Juanita the Spanish Lobster is the third release in the top award-winning Stories in Music™ children's CD series with the London Philharmonic and conductor Stephen Simon, and the first American recording of the British classic. In the tradition of Peter and the Wolf, the Stories in Music™ series of new classics for narrator and symphony orchestra introduces young people to the wonders of orchestral music.

Juanita the Spanish Lobster tells the humorous tale of a lady lobster who wants to go to the land. The spirited flamenco music, which matches Juanita's spunk and Spanish heritage, and the bel canto opera, perfect for the Welsh-singing lobster, Caradoc, together create an unforgettable symphonic story.

The CD also includes additional tracks that inform and enrich the listening experience, much like an audio guide at a museum. The child learns what to listen for in the music, how this wonderful work was created by a BBC television personality and British composer, David Haslam, and hear the "O Juanita" bel canto aria rearranged into an Elvis-style doo-wop song. A karaoke track of the song at the end of the recording provides a fun opportunity for the entire family to put on their blue suede shoes and sing along.

I purchased this CD for my grandchildren and thought I would listen to it first. The music is beautiful! The story is entertaining and funny! And the background information is interesting and informative. All in all, it is a well rounded production, and I think it will delight all who listen to it, young and old.
