5 out of 5 stars Deep, Poignant, Beautifully Crafted   August 18, 2008
I bought this CD having not heard Trisha Yearwoods latest three albums leading up to this one. Heaven, Heartache and the Power of Love delivers song after song of powerful statements such as the line in "This Is Me Your Talking To".... the message is clear "he thinks he's the only one who's touched me like that, but he don't know nothin bout Memphis." With songs written by Karen Rochelle, Matrace Berg and Greg Bernhill, Trisha Yearwood sends the message "you can't have heaven without the heartache, but hopefully by the time you get there, you'll have perspective" (paraphrase).
In short, I enjoyed it from "Heaven" to "Sing You Back To Me"

5 out of 5 stars A Modern Classic   July 3, 2008
On this album, Trisha delivers some of her best vocal performances, along with outstanding songs. EVERY SINGLE ONE is a winner!
A stronger album hasn't come out of Nashville since 1980, when Reba's "Feel The Fire" came out. I truly adore it, and listen to it constantly, even though I bought it 6 months ago.
Favourites:
"Nothin' 'Bout Memphis"
-This has got to be the single most impressing vocal performance I have ever heard by anyone! Exeptional song, and probably my favourite song off the album.
"The Dreaming Fields"
-A haunting piano-driven song. The lyrics are so emotional, you might actually burst into tears at first listen. A true modern classic.
"Heaven, Heartache And The Power Of Love"
-Probably my all-time favourite uptempo number by any artist! It is so much fun to listen to, and it is just plain awesome"

Buy this album now! If you don't, you are missing out on a true modern classic.

5 out of 5 stars Mrs. Brooks Brings it Again!   June 23, 2008
Trisha Yearwood delivers another cd full of hits here. The woman has a voice that can be rivaled by few and she displays her stardom on this cd. She makes the transition from singing "country" to "diva pop" seem effortless and natural, which is a skill that few of her comtemporaries have mastered. Once again, she sings about love and relationships and I can relate to many of the songs on this cd. "Heaven, Heartache and the Power of Love" is one of the overall best country cds I have heard this year (I didn't get the cd until a few months ago) and it reminds me why Trisha Yearwood has become a mainstay in country music.

5 out of 5 stars Amazing Exhibition of Power and Soul   May 16, 2008
This is an amazing collection of songs, thematically related as you might guess from the title. The songwriting and musicianship contribute to display Trisha's unique style and incredible vocals. Powerful vocals and heart-tugging memorable lyrics are what she's known for, and this CD does not disappoint.

The title track is an awesome gospel-tinged tune, a fantastic choice to reveal her particular talents. "This is Me You're Talking To" resonates with me; it tears my heart out. This is some of Trisha's best work. Though elements of new country exist on this record, its more an exhibition of how great traditional gospel-tinged country can be. I agree with reviewers who believe that there's no filler on this record. They're all great songs, interperated to the fullest.

4 out of 5 stars nicely crafted cd   May 11, 2008

This cd is big in emotion - plaintive to rocking....I can't decide which style I like best from Yearwood. I guess I like her best when she connects with the song and the song is well written and there are plenty here from the title cut to "this is me", "nothin' bout you", "drown me" and "let the wind chase you".
