HARD CANDY is a Sweet FESTIVALMay 3, 2008 This CD is to be savored bit by bit, and beat by beat. It's not like CONFESSIONS ON A DANCE FLOOR that you fall in love at 1st sight (listening). No, this is an album you have to explore, listen, pay attention, get to know...and when you see, you are addicted to its flavor, like a sugarholic! It's FUN and upbeat, Modern and Retro, light and hard, involving and hipnotic. Madonna did a great job with the TRIO (TIMbaland, TIMberlake and Pharrel) and other artists that collaborated in this work. It's good to see that Madonna changes her style, but doesn't change her taste, which is an excelent one. She has experience and talent. That's why she's been here that long. Buy it, and listen to it without prejudice. At the end, you will be in love.
Not Confessions but good in its own right...May 3, 2008 There are some really good tracks on here. I don't find it as consistent as Confessions, but that was one of my favorite CDs ever, by Madonna or anyone, so that's a pretty high standard to achieve. This CD is not disappointing...it may take a few listens, but the tracks start to have their individuality after that.

I am NOT a diehard diehard Madonna fan. It is obvious which reviews are done by diehard fans, as they have no critique at all. Not everything Madonna touches is gold. That is a good place for me to start. "4 Minutes" the lead single, has the stupidest lyrics in this reviewer's opinion. The beat is ok, but no doubt will get annoying after repeated listens (the horn loop reminds me of "Get Right" by Jennifer Lopez.
This is Madonna's final album on this record label. Half of me is suspicious that she only worked with Timbaland and Timberlake/ Danja and Pharell because she wanted a very commercial effort-to prove she was worth the 100 million dollar deal she signed with Live Nation? I'd like to think that she thought more of her fans than the almighty dollar, but everyone has their price.
I don't want to knock the album, but I feel this underlying feeling for this album. Where is the creativity? Why go with producers that have been DONE TO DEATH all of last year and this year?
There are good songs on this cd-"Give it 2 Me" "Miles Away" "Incredible" and "Beat Goes On" (My personal favorite on this cd..but the Kanye rap is kind of pointless though) The mediocre to me: "Dance 2Nite" (reeks of Justin Timberlake) "4 Minutes" (something rubs me the wrong way)
Bottom line-I can't help feel she sold out in a way by using the latest producers and aiming squarely for the masses. Listen to the tracks first and decide for yourself.
The candy at least it is sweet !!!May 3, 2008 Well , when I first read that Madonna was working in a new style , acording to Justin , Timbaland and Pharrel , I first said : " This will be a bad record. I hope she don't try their sound much " . But my point of view totally changed when I listen to the first single " 4 MINUTES " . This is Picho's review.
CANDY SHOP : This opening track it's perfect! It's like welcome to her store , and it is sweet indeed. The very urban track it rocks. The lyrics for Candy Shop are so funny and sexy. This song at is says , it is sticky and sweet. One of my fav songs of the album.
4 MINUTES : This brillant song it's like the future march. It rocks. The background melody makes you feel like an peepshow. The lyrics are very sexually and very playful. Without Justin , the song would not be cool as it does. Another fav !
GIVE IT 2 ME : Iam very sure this single will be a hit. The bassline has something very funky that stucked in my head. The lyrics are very sexual but under a message. " I can go on and on and on / No one's gonna stop me now " . Those lyrics defenitly can tell us she love to live without stops. Another fav! But this is much better than 4 Minutes as a single.
HEARTBEAT : LOVE IT! The lyrics can show that she really loves what she does. This song can be easily pick up as a single because it contains all what a single needs. A cool sound , expert lyrics and Madonna . LOL! It starts with heartbeats indeed.
MILES AWAY : Not a ballad but something very romantic :) I love it! And Im sure that will be a great single. This could be an answer for Guy and Madonna's distance . This song starts with some guitars and finishes with the splendid "So far away .... " =) Another fav for me
SHE'S NOT ME : Omg! This song really rock! It remains me off Lucky Star and you will defenitly pick this song as your favourite. She sings very nice. The lyrics show a filthy woman stealing "her" boyfriend by copying her. My favourite song of the album . It rooocks!
INCREDIBLE : This hell song rocks! " Sex with you is incredible " , it contains moanings and all .... the bassline its perfect! Many fans don't like the song , but I think they are wrong. The lyrics show a very "Incredible" relation , turned to a very shake-song. Another favourite .
BEAT GOES ON : You can't find something similar to the first BEAT GOES ON, just the chorus. It is a club song 100% . And kanye's Rap makes it very hoooot! It should be a single and sang in her next tour.
DANCE 2NIGHT : 100% Justin Timberlake! As a duo , it rocks! Timbaland and Justin appears again , here .... with a spectacular song! The chorus is catchy . It is an uptempo song (all of them , they are, or most of them). "Le'ts dance 2night" will thrill you more than ever. Another favourite.
SPANISH LESSON : And here comes the weak moment. This is not a bad song but not the best based in spanish men. The lyrics are very funny. A paradox on each sentence. And if you listen it twice you would find that the song it's strange. My least favourite song of it.
DEVIL WOULDN'T RECOGNIZE YOU : Omg! From now on , this is my favourite ballad!!!!! The lyrics and the song are so beautiful as a team! Some rain in the instrumental , will remind you off Justin's CRY ME A RIVER . Then she sings very emotional " Even the devil wouldn't recognize you , I do" Pick this as a single , please Madonna! Love it!!
VOICES : The best way to finish an album with a perfect song. Just love it. The " Who is the master " part thrills me a lot . Here you can listen a dark Madonna making you feel her slave. Another fav!

YOU SHOULD BUY THIS ALBUM , IT'S GREAT
Edgy, sexy, danceable....MadonnaMay 3, 2008 Great CD! I'm a huge Madonna fan and though I loved her cover song w/Justin, I was worried about the upcoming album...with the notion of "hip hop"; I am not a fan of hip hop. Yes, a little hip hop thrown in but it's mild with some voice synthesizing, like in her few latest CD's. "Candy Shop", "4 Minutes", "Give It 2 Me", "Heartbeat", "Miles Away" (she is on acoustic guitar); "Incredible" are my favorites on the disc so far. "Drowned" was a huge comeback success album, "American Life" not so much, but the songs that didn't become popular from that CD were better than those that did become popular...I'm sure any fan would agree. "Confessions" was a much better hit for her....."Hard Candy" is just as great. Like another reviewer speculated, Madonna just goes with the times....as does her fans. Is there anyone else her age who can pull out all the stops?! All in all, it's a great CD...I look forward to her upcoming concert and any future endeavors.
